  1. im doing some y axis contouring on a nokamura tome 9 axis lathe.the mach is brand new and we only bought the best tooling.shrink fit in alberti heads.the tooling overhang is minimum but i cant seem to get a great finish.ive never contour milled (or milled for that matter)on a lathe and was curious as to if this was just inhearant to tang drive tooling or if im doing something wrong.there always seems to be slop in the engagement. thanks mark
  2. we have 3 haas controllers in our shop.2 of them are old and one is fairly new.the older ones communicate fine back and forth to cimco or the old programm i used to use.the newer machine has always been a problem though.i can send to it fine but when i try to send to the computer it only works one time.when i try to send a second prog to it the controller just says "waiting".the only way i can send more than one program is to turn the control off and send it again, but once again i can only send one prog. any ideas?
  3. going on 10.30 pm and im still at the shop. im building a set of nitrogen shocks for my truck and keepin the machines runnin!
  4. after installing 9.1 this seems to be the default editor.how do i change it back ti cimco edit?i realize the metacut seems much better and fancier but right now in this learning phase i would just like to go back to the plain jane editor.
  5. thanks i would capure it in corel but is there another way?
  6. how would i display a screenshot(low res)of something i was doing to better explain the problem? would i have to upload it somewhere and give the url?
  7. prussion blue! the kind that stays wet!
  8. cammando is right youve gotta change your whole way of thinking.but from what ive seen (especially in 9.1)its well worth it. i used to dread small geometry changes in sc because i had to delete the toolpath and start new.and then i still had to remember the overlap amounts and leadin angles.mc makes all of that simple. i think my biggest prob at the moment is that weve always use subs in our programs.i think ive just gotta make some single parts (just g54)and once i get that down then figure out the sub stuff.my head is spinning too much trying to adapt to this new system and get the subs to work too at the same time. im still struggling with it but its getting easier every day. if you come on board I may finally be helpfull to someone here! btw i found this pic on one of my 4 wheel drive forums and thought it looked familiar. hmmmmmm
  9. HEY I NEED HELP! oopps sorry ive always gotta proofread as not to offend! may i please have some help? cmon once we get to know each other and that we are really registered paying users ,all is good
  10. thanks kyle posting to nothing at the moment!all of our machines are workin overtime on long runs right now.i havent really gotten as far as tweakin a post yet.give me a little more time so i can answer intelligently. right now its just haas controllers and one seimens but weve got a makino horizontal on the way. the monitor went on the seimens today.3800 bucks it will be here tomorrow. im gettin the hang of it!mc that is

  12. thanks peter im using the mastercam mill design tutorial that we got with ver 9.i was just wondering if i should have gotten something with 9.1 too. there seems to be some new mc9 files on the disc and although i can see them run in verify,i would like to see how they were created right from the beginning and follow through to posting. ive got a pretty good handle on programming some parts now but im still not 100% sure about the subbing part. if i make one part complete and it seems to work fine ,then do i just select everything and transform (with the subprogram button highlighted)? if i wanted say g54-5-6 etc would i just make the appropriate copies? the spacing is irrelevant im mc right? the actual positions will be set at the machine....g54 g55 g56. i have some posts that my var has sent and some of you have sent me too(thank you)but im just not sure how to properly do it in mc. thanks mark
  13. ive been quite busy and ive only had minimal time to work on mc in the past 2 weeks.(remember im just a beginner with mc) we installed 9.1 recently and i really like some of the new stuff.especially the option of now being able to have different lengths for the lead in and out of a profile. ive gotten to the point in the manual for subprogramming but it is the shortest chapter in the book and it only gives one example for subbing a toolpath down in z not transforming g54 g55 etc. where can i get some more info on this? how can i follow through with the new files that are on 9.1?should i have gotten a book with 9.1? mark
  14. i gotta admit.thats one BEAUTIFUL baby!
  15. tru solid worked thanks no time to play on the puter today got hung up a little yesterday rotating some geometry.(book exersize) didnt realize there is a X-FORM and a TRANSFORM i was trying to do the rotate by x form but needed transform. im learnin ,but not today
  16. can i set it up with default values that i like? lead ins and outs and overlaps are very important in our parts.most of our 'faces' are cosmetic and im used to hiding all lead ins and outs in non obvious spots. what values do you use for defaults?
  17. true solid? where do i find that? thanks
  18. after the last move in verify my screen seems to blink or refresh itself. do i have something set wrong or is this normal?
  19. how do i do this in mc? i just want to click say the midpoint of one line and any other entity and get the distance beween them. is there a function called measure or something like this that im missing? bear with me with these stupid questions. ive been working with mc as much as time has allowed in the past week and i think im doin pretty good. ive come across some things that i really like!
  20. now that i look back at that it was stupid. my apologies to anyone offended.
  21. no it was an arc.i thought i could change it under modify but saw no prompt for rad change. is the way i described the only way besides redrawing the arc? recd, i see i can use scale or offset but if i wanted to correct it by just putting in the new correct rad,is the way i described the only way? im just kinda foolin around today.
