All great stuff from you guy's. This Brother takes 2 % one top one bottom. And Joe I checked all file extensions and even the hidden ones. One thing I just noticed and I don't Know if it would cause a problem But one is set to load and unload at E-7-2 and this one at E-7-1. I don't know if that would cause a slight change in the file. And I also did file compare on Cimco and they match step for step. These files actually don't have an extension they are just called files. It won't let me attach either file or I would show you.

Thanks I went ahead and did that .And will try it. But looking at several machining sites there are quite a few threads on this problem. Most people can't load or unload at all. and are basically hand programming. and then deleting or conversational and delete. The only extension is it just says File not .file. You would think it was easy but I have searched the entire programs and see no difference. And reseller has no clue.

Hi Thanks for responding. I can send and recieve any files that are currently in the machine. No Problems. But any other file is a No. We have three Brothers just got a tc-31 in today. All of the files are Identical as far as I can tell BUT they are not interchangeable to each other Machine ??? So I'm getting comm cause I can delete ,send replace no Prob as long as it was current in that machine.???

Are you talking about the extension??? Or the actual file name ? From what I have seen Brothers are notoriously tricky .But as I said I can Load and unload all of it's current programs. And We have two Brothers a tc-32a and a tc-324 and for some reason you can't interchange those either.

Hi Guys, We have a Brother TC-324 and We transfer files with a floppy drive and PC laptop. As of right now I can recieve and send any file that was in the Machine. But when I post in Mastercam(Brother post from reseller) I keep getting an Invalid File Name. I tried .NC,.Txt The Files taken from the machine just say file ,No extension.. I went to control def. and deleted file name and got what looks like exactly the same file. I adjusted the code to match exactly. And same issue. Contacted camtech and sent both files and he saw nothing either. Would appreciate ANY help on this. Thanks Dave

Hi guys, We have to brother tapping centers and with my laptop and pro comm I have been able to load and unload the programs that were stored in the machine. So I checked with my reseller and they sent me a post for my new programs. That I make on Mastercam. Well I can't get the machine to upload a file it just sits there blinking. Let me say I have changed extensions to match, checked to see if all was similar to my normal files. even checked g and M codes to verify the same. Yes I checked % top and bottom. So basically I have two identical files and one will load and the other not.???? Any Ideas ??? And yes I'm trying to get another post from them. I have had the same issue at times on my Fanuc but I changed the definitions like Bubbles and WCC said and it so far has corrected it.

Thanks that's great I gave it to my Boss. But can you help me in the meantime. I want to dump V6 and reinstall V5 to get through this. Just for info I have MCX6,MCX7 and 8 installed. I haven't had time to play with 8 so it is just sitting there. I'm comfortable on 7 and want to switch it back to V5. My tech guy told me to change settins configuration to OTHER and I clicked on cimco edit but it didn't take. Any Help?

Hi Guy's, Anyone have any ideas on high production threading. Really don't want to thread mill due to operator inexperience. I'm threading two 1 1/4 -16 UN 2A bosses bout an inch deep Am checking Die Heads but they are pricey. Anyone got ideas it's cast aluminum. how long do you think a thread mill will last before breaking down?

I agree on all that you said!! And it was a lot!! I'm just having a problem wrapping my head around where I want to start and getting the origin where I am most comfortable. I know it's OCD but I have trouble when it is not just exactly where I want it. And I have been trying to do a step by step so I can be more efficient. I like how Jparis set it up I'm just reviewing how he did it to get a better understanding. And the different ways others go about it. Thanks a lot it really helps.

Oh Well I tried it several ways no biggie just hate to restart every time. I checked help and right click first it was a no go. When I looked it up in Help it showed the exact ribbon bar that V5 had with the 4 icons for send instead of V6 only has 2. Thanks anyhow.

I see that. But does it send the highlighted part of the program or does it send as it says from disk??? I was trying to start from the middle of the program and V5 had a seperate icon for that???

OoooK?? Please Splain Lucy? I have a very limited understanding of these principles so if you don't mind elaborate. And if you really don't mind please step by step for me. The engineers here throw the origin all over the place and each one does it differently so I find myself moving things all the time. Also by some quirk I am dependent on using the grid that you saw. Hi Guys probably a simple one but not for me. When I load a file the engineers generally don't care where origin is placed. And I am partial to my grid settings. And my grid is always off kilter so I move it generally to top dead center on the top or bottom face. Most of my parts are circular in some way. So anyway when it has been moved and toolpaths are complete when I go to verify my Z depths almost always revert to the file Hence my stock is usually not consistent to my part. Any Help??? Please?? I have Bikini Pics!!!

Hi guys, Just got handed the X8 disc But have questions before install.I inherited mastercam and this computer when I started here so X6 and X7 are both on here. Do I need to uninstall them then install X8? I have the X8 installation guide in front of me and didn't see any info on this. Will I lose my programs.? Or do I just install X8 on top of it. ? Hi Guys Another provacative Topic Headline !!! I'm trying to set up a proto TRAK EMX so I can pull and send programs from my MCX Post. Does any one know or know where I can get a program or file converter to change my files to .CAM so I can put them in to my control. It only takes .CAM or MX2 file extensions. Thanks Dave
