  1. So that's what the highfeed button was all about! Damn. Too bad it isn't an operation, I'm not a big fan of finalized operations since we generate toolpaths all the time from MCX files as tools etc. tend to change all the time. But thanks for the enlightening answer.
  2. Hello again and thank you for your help earlier. Is it possible to use a custom stock (either the stock in stock setup or the stock created by stock operation) to define the stock for a dynamic contour so that the toolpath would be optimized to utilize radial chip thinning and adjust feed according to the stock being machined? Example: Create a rectangular stock and a profile toolpath around it. The tool removes material 10% of the tool diameter from the left side and 50% of the tool diameter from the right side. The tool would go faster when machining the left side.
  3. Never knew about this feature. You made my day! Thanks.
  4. Hello! Has this ever been suggested before, or is there some (hidden) way to do this? It would be incredibly useful especially in lathe, where there are several surface roughness requirements in the same toolpath. I always have to edit the G-code by hand afterwards to add the F-values. Also in milling it would be great, but I guess X9:s radial chip thinning feature helps with this a lot (haven't been able to try it yet). It would be pretty easy to implement, for example, press F4 (properties dialog) with the selected geometry and enter some value to the "feed rate override" input box Bye.
  5. I'd love to be able to machine threads with custom profiles with a cutoff/groove/whatever tool using controlled threading (G32 on Fanuc). I don't know of any cam that can do it.
  6. FINALLY found a relevant operation = 2D Core Mill! Surface A face (grayed in the image) is selected as a machining region and the surface shown as ungrayed is the avoidance region. Depth cuts work as well with this. Any better suggestions?
  7. Hola. Consider the solid in attachment. I want to mill plane A while avoiding plane B (yet both surfaces must have adequate finish) from a block of metal. Is there any SINGLE solid operation that does this elegantly (no hacks)? Thanks.
  8. Copy/Paste does not work all the time. If I copy (ctrl+c) for example a geometry entity from one mcx8 file and create a new mastercam file, it pastes just fine (ctrl+v). BUT, if I open an existing mcx-8 file, pasting does nothing! Latest update is installed (update 4). Works fine in MCX7.
  9. Hola. Is there any equivalent in MC lathe for G73 pattern repeating cycle - not using the G73 canned cycle. Thanks!
  10. What exactly is the point of EA manager? You can assign only single color per single layer for entities. Everything is 1-to-1. Would it be some sort of patent infringement to have similar system as, like, in AutoCAD?
  11. Good day. The answer must be very simple, but I haven't found it yet. So, how do I alter the postprocessor so that it won't generate code such as G0X0Y0 X40 X50.8 X80 ... X100 But instead: G0X0Y0 X100 Thanks!
  12. Hello. We've updated to X8 in our company, but using X7 for the following reason. In lathe, for example, if I draw a line from (D0,Z0) to (D100,Z0) and then want to continue the profile to Z-100 by typing "Z-100" as a quick input, the endpoint becomes (D[somerandomnumber],Z-100) as opposed to (D100,Z-100). Or whatever X or D I enter (as a quick input), the other endpoint coordinate won't stay the same as the start point coordinate, like in X7. Bug? If so, we can't wait for a fix!
  13. Hello Is it possible to get a full reference (meaning) for all these words in the PST file? For example, what do pbld and pcan mean - I find absolutely NO information with Google! I need to learn post customization to be efficient in my CAM-related job, so any help would be appreciated.
  14. Thanks for the info. I will certainly check this application out.
  15. When post processing operations and not everything is selected, mc each time confirms if I want to post process all operations. Is there any way to disable this message box? I have never had to answer YES.
  16. Hi. I like to use different colors for different layers for clarity. However, I haven't found any way to make it so that the color changes according to the active layer. I hate picking up the color every time. What should I do? Thanks!
  17. Hello experts. We've spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out how to flip the stock in MC lathe without using the "flip stock" operation, using only wcs, tplanes etc. To no avail. Why not use the stock flip feature? Because copying the original geometry is a horrible idea and causes extra work and room for errors if I need to modify the part later. So, how do I flip the part using only the original geometry? Thanks!!!
