I have a Charmilles Robofil 240 and 90% of my work is 4 axis and holding to .0002 Once I got my post dialed in with a few adjustments I have never had anything Mastercam could not do on this machine.
  6. Keith, for myself I would cut the outside geom. as separate path, by creating a new start point outside of the first exit point. Program 1 has entity sync, then en program 2 will sync as well. I don't like working with double geometry on the same plane is all. Those 2 paths can then be transformed over to next operation. Hope this helps. Jim
  7. Keith. I am running 9.1 sp2 as well and the regen crashes. I was able to delete the wirepaths and start over fresh. After the first one is wired I transformed it over and was fine from there. There was double geometry on the upper level which is really not needed to cut it. AS far as the crash I'm stumped on this one too. Jim
  8. Thanks for the links guys, but we opted for the new spindle swap. If this was a new machine I would of considered the grinding but due to the fact it is going on 7 yrs old and over 12,000 hrs feed cutting time, it seemed the better choice and will be finished tomorrow.
  9. quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Haas saleman told us that if a Haas retention knob broke that they would fix the spindle for FREE. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- quote: Our Haas saleman told us that if a Haas retention knob broke that they would fix the spindle for $9,854.35. Pretty close.Complete spindle swap, $7079.53 2697.00 credit for defective spindle. +labour 6 hrs Looks like it will be completed on Monday. I am suprised at how many this has happened to. I'm also going to swap out all of our retention knobs for new ones as well .(NOT FROM HAAS)I am going to send out the knob for hardness testing and post results. IT broke at the weakest point and does look extremely hard. gcode that machine of yours rocks !
  10. HOLY CRAP Gcode. That wouldn't even fit in our building. All the jobs I have cut in the last couple years would fit on that at one time :-)
  11. OH the costs of doing business.
  12. Thanks for all the input guys. Glad to see we keep underwear manufactures in business. Service is faxing me a quote to swap out the spindle with another one. 5-6 hrs they est. to complete the work. Can't wait to see the boss's eyes light up when that one comes thru. LOL! PS . It was a Haas pull stud and we had the service dept here last november for a pm.
  13. Thanks guys. It was a regular stud. No coolant thru it .I am still not sure what came came about first. I think the insert blew up after the stud broke. THe cut was not a heavy one, only .060 .But it was on a near verticle wall and when the stud broke, the x,y axis were still moving thus rubbing it out and causing more damage before the load meter kicked in. By then the damage was done and shorts were ruined. At least they are cheap to replace I'll be calling service at 9am and looking for a replacement, need to get up and running asap. 1 week left before holidays
  14. Yeah it's the 7500 one. THe spindle still runs, it's just the score damage at the top and a little near the bottom of the taper. Guess I better go search the parking lot for the pull stud to show the boss.
  15. Yesterday our Haas vf-2 decided to snap a pull stud on a 1-1/4 dia bullnose while cutting in the middle of an aluminum job I don't care about the damage to the job but the spindle taper is now toast as well as my shorts. The holder left some nice score/weld marks on the taper. Gonna have to call service today and see what can be done. Anybody ever experience this before ? Can the taper be reground or are we looking at a new spindle shaft ?
  16. Available for download is the latest version driver. That might be a good start if he's not at the latest drivers. Windows 2000 Ver3.01-0739 17 Feb 04 4.1 MB
  17. HI ROger. I do not have that card but I do have both VP870 and VP880 Pro. Both are on xp and work great. Please elaborate more on the problems and I will try to help. Jim.
  18. Welcome to the forum Neil. I have a robofil 240 (same control as 440) and working with my dealer he was able to modify a post to output proper iso for MY applications. What works for me may not for you. Your dealer should be able to modify a post to output the proper iso you are looking for, especially if you are able to give him a sample of what you want. I hope this helps point you in the right direction.
  19. Thanks Winnie. Yeah I have read some of millan's crazy hours and I know exactly where he's coming from. I'm at 64 hours already, with Fri,Sat, and Sun. still left
  20. MIchael. YEs this UV head can be set at many different angles. Thad pointed me in the right direction with the WCS. Once I manipulated it in the right direction all is fine. Thanks Thad. I'm at 18 hours here now and no end in sight but this was a big help. Me Aggressive winnie ?? nahh. I just want to get this cut and go home to bed All.
  21. Thanks Thad. I have never used the uv head before and the WCS will be my next attempt at it. I'm not too familiar with it and looks like i'm on a crash coarse. Thanks.
  22. Thanks FOr your OHHHHHH ! help Michael. I have been reading the 5 pages found in search and have not found anything relating to a universal head and undercuts. But I'm Still reading thanks.
  23. Hi All. I have uploaded a file to the ftp site in the Mc9 dir. called undercut-cadcamjim. I need to machine the undercut shown in red with a 3.175 ballnose. The rad left in the lower corner from this is fine. I was hoping to use the universal head for this but have not done this before. Any help appreciated.
