  1. thanks for the info and help on understanding how the parameters in the fanuc controls work, Im always scrolling through the pages trying to understand what they are and what they do or referencing back to my manuals as well..
  2. So this would be changing the machine parameter value from 10 mm to 100 mm ?? Im just trying to understand the logic here. because if it is default set to 10 mm that seems plenty enough of a arc tolerance to me. I too have experienced this enormous loop problem but on other machine controls not fanucs. and the key to the problem was switching to I,j,k output in the post. but have never seen this on a fanuc control. The 18i's I have used have had the control and machine being set up in inch mode not metric which I know is just a change of paremeters to switch back and forth because they arrived in metric and I had them switched over to inch. also I know some areas in the 18i any ways, the 1000 would not be seen in metric, it assumes a four place decimal. In other words, 10000 equals 1.0", 1000 equals 0.1", 100 equals 0.01", etc. jut trying to understand the logic here is all, thanks in advance.
  3. Tim is this info in the parameters assuming a 4 place decimal meaning the 10 actually equals .001 and 100 equaling .010
  4. I ended up contacting Nikken today and the emailed me detailed dxf files for the holders I am building in my library. so if anyone needs dxf files for there holders don't hesitate to contact the dealers they will help you in any way the can I found out. thanks again for all the info..
  5. thanks Jparis. this is the info im currently working with but one of the holders is not on the list for some reason. also Im trying to incorporate the slight down size of the nose part of the mill chucks and how tall the angle is at the nose where it tapers and decreases in size a few hundred thousandths.. thanks again.
  6. Building a holder library and am wondering if anyone knows of a web page or site that dimensions out the holder geo sizes in more depth that what the nikken catalog does. im working with cat 40 taper mill chucks and just trying to get the best info possible on geo for the holder library Im building. thanks in advance..
  7. bump for a solution ?? thanks in advance
  8. ok Ive checked the region settings and it at 2 places to the right of decimal and my tool path tolerance is set at .0001 and still getting 6 places to the right of decimal. anyone have any other places I can check.. thanks in advance.
  9. toolpath tolerance is set to .0001 should it be to a different setting?
  10. I have tried both from the tool manager and then next to the tool library "!" edit option and get the same message in both areas. I will find out Monday the exact message but it boils down to not letting me complete the delete function and I have just been creating new tool librarys from old ones to work around this for now. but would like to get figured out if its a permissions setting or a mastercam bug.I didn't have this problem in X6 just discovered it in X7 in last few months since our company has finally made the transition over to X7. thanks for the info.
  11. Ive been moved to a new computer and machine and having an issue within my tool paths. when I select a depth or top of stock from my geo I get a number like 2.74995 or its always 5 or 6 places to the right of the decimal. If I open the file on another computer it rounds the number up to a 2.750. I have checked the normal settings and they are set to 4 places after the decimal. Is there some place im not checking that is causing this. also it only does in the tool paths. not happening in the analyze or dimensioning areas just my toolpath boxes for depths and top of stocks if I click the tab and manually select a point on my geo. thanks in advance.
  12. Im having issues inside the tool manager when I go to edit my tool library. Im trying to delete some tools that are not used anymore in our shop from the tool library and when I select delete it prompts me like always but when it goes to delete the tool from the library it pops up an error message un able to delete the tool. is there a different way to approach this than from the tool manager inside mastercam or is this a bug in X7 MU2 Mill Level 3. thanks for any help in advance.
  13. thanks for the webinar of the MD/CD. It gave me a much more in depth understanding of how I can use the MD/CD and customize it to my preferences.
  14. can I send this bug to quality control to see if there is a fix being addressed in the nest MU release? and whats their email.. thanks.
  15. its set this way by default and cannot be changed unfortunately
  16. When paths are imported for new geo, or paths are already done but are run on a different machine than they were pathed for this sometimes requires changing of the tool number for the machine. I go into my tool parameters page and edit the tool to make the necessary changes to the tool numbers or I simply edit the tool itself under the parameters tab on the toolpath itself. when I make these changes using one of the two ways described a regen of the operation is not required and I post the path and run it no problems. Since I have been using X7 mu2 myself along with other seats of MC are having the following problem. when a tool number is change its is reflected on the tool parameters page and the tool tab on the path itself but when the said path is posted it posts the tool number that was previously used when the tool path was originally created or with the imported operation. In order to fix this problem I have to regenerate the path to get it to post the correct tool number in my NC code. If this is not known about to check for this when posting code it can cause a crash or ruin the part if it cut with the wrong tool number and left running unattended at night plus the long regen time it takes to get the tool path to take the correct tool number when it is changed. Is this a know bug that is being addressed or have I stumbled onto something new. it happens on every seat of MC at work and can be repeated. unfortunately Im not at work right now to take screen shots of this but hopefully my explanation can be understood clearly enough. thanks in advance.
  17. ok just an update and fix to the problem I was having. Some how the trace button in the backplot got clicked on accidently and toggled to the on mode causing the problem I was describing above. So really wasn't a problem just an option that is never used that got turned on some how. thanks for all that helped..
  18. I have to modify it where it dosent post it out with a decimal behind the number I post. if I change it to 2000 it will post in the nc code as 2000. and the control errors out and gives me illegal decimal point error. I can probably input 2000 just need to make it not put the decimal behind the number. that's all Im trying to accomplish here by making a small mod to the fmt line of my post that outputs the dwell time. thanks.
  19. I want to change the format in which my post outputs the time in seconds when using the dwell option on drill bore path #1. It outputs P2.0 and I have to change it in Cimco edit to P2000 for my machine to read it as 2 seconds..any help much appreciated. Thanks in advance..
  20. I want to change the format in which my post outputs the time in seconds when using the dwell option on drill bore path #1. It outputs P2.0 and I have to change it in Cimco edit to P2000 for my machine to read it as 2 seconds..any help much appreciated. Thanks in advance..
  21. Ok was not the quick verify button. I use this and when checked on it displays all way to the end before I even play the backplot..any more thoughts anyone thanks in advance..
  22. I've never seen that option so it's possible. I will check at work tomorrow and report back with my finds. Is this button one that's displayed in plain view on the backplot page? Possible it got clicked by accident if so. Again I will look and see when go to work tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion.
  23. Ok got the latest driver update with no luck on fixing the problem..help anyone. Makes it difficult to view the backplot properly..thanks
  24. I don't know if this amount to anything but I don't have this issue in X6 only in x7. and I can make changes to my nvida display though the NVidia control panel without having admin control. Is there something there I can look for and possibly change to see if it fixes issue with X7 backplot ? according to the IT guy we have a 600 series NVidia card and latest drivers in the computer but I cant see what is what with out having admin control to the computer.
  25. Well that's something I'm gonna have to hit the IT guy up about then..was hoping it was something simple I could do without going through him. Thanks for the info..
