Hi Guys. I just made one from the Generic Fanuc post and I talked a little with Bruce. I guess this is a newer machine but I have not run into it before. Thanks for your help
Anybody out there using a ProtoTrak sSX 2 or 3? If you are, is it fanuc style code or conversational???? Customer just emailed me and I haven’t heard of this machine but I saw it online.
Hi Andrew,
Its Chris Kozell from ShopWare. As far as I know you didnt have any more issues. If you remember, I stopped up at your shop about a month or so ago to see how things were going and go over anything you wanted to. You and your friends were mountain biking, which dont get me wrong, is fun to do but it was a perfect time that we could have gone over any issues you were having.
Anybody out there have experience with passing the tool info to the machine on a mazak lathe with a fusion 640 control? I’m starting off using the basic mplfunuc post. The machine operator has no experience with gcode, only mazatrol so he’s not much help.
Thanks!
Any one run into this when programing a helical entry on on Tree machine? The control errors and reads "an axis helical lead is required for a helical interpolation".
Here is a small seg where the control errors at block#4065
N4062 G3 X2.9354 Y-2.0299 I2.9354 J-1.944
N4063 G1 X4.9611 Z-.2418
N4064 G3 X4.9875 Y-2.0247 I4.9611 J-1.9611
N4065 X5.0098 Y-2.0098 Z-.2419 I4.9611 J-1.9611
N4066 X5.0247 Y-1.9875 I4.9611 J-1.9611
N4067 X5.0299 Y-1.9611 I4.9611 J-1.9611
From what the book says the helical lead is the feed distance that the third axis moves per 360 deg of circular motion of the axis.
Any ideas out there?
Hey thanks James. You get use to it. It can be difficult at times but it’s really good when you prevail and help people out. I was a moldmaker for 10 years before I started working for ShopWare and I love do this. I don’t have the up and down of 80 hrs 1 week to 40 the next. In general we are always busy and I’m always and the edge of technology.
Tony, so where does that leave a guy like you??
Thanks for the offer but no thanks. It’s easier to keep control of things if you don’t sub it out to everywhere. Most People don’t like getting bounced around especially when they have tech questions. I'm sure you know that from your dealings.
You guys are funny! Mike is still here. To help better support all of you, ShopWare needs to free up time for Mike and myself so we need to get another person in here. I need someone who is looking for a long term commitment. Even if you are not a power user, we can train you!!!! You just need to be aggressive, want to learn, and take pride in what you do. PLEASE let me know if you are that person!

Hey, I work with Mike and I agree. Its nice to know who is who and see my customers being active on the forum. Several of you guys have been very helpful to my customers and me.Thank you. Oh, look at the time, imagine who I could have helped if I know who you are J/K
DUG,
Welcome, as you see, some people are edgie about the CAPLOCKS.
Now, to answer your question, download the jan04 Inventor zip file (translator for Inventor V8)from mastercam.com. If you do not have Inventor on the same pc as Mastercam, download designtrackerV8 also and install it. If you goto file, converters, autodesk, readfile, change file type to inventor, and then open.
As far as surfs vers solids..... Its Personal opinion, and you know what they say about that. Edge curves, in MY opinion, are always good. Good Luck!
Hey guys, verify doesn't look at the gcode, its reading the nci file when you verify. Its most likely in the post. This is where Metacut is handy,it looks at the gcode and its really easy to change.
Last I heard from Big Brother was that VX is still on track for a June release. I have heard some really good things that are going to be in the new version. Also the Mastercam to Solidworks direct is coming along good.
Hey Paul, you must have had a really good teacher to say such kind words in the other thread, some one should buy that man a beer!!!
Thanks for the feed back guys. There is documentation in V9. Do a search for HFAPP. Its a doc file about 32 pages long on all the settings in mastercam high feed.
Also, I have used HF with Surf/project/blend and got really nice looking part off a TREE CNC.
