  1. quote: use manual entry, this works good for random stuff This will work if you are the only programmer and never get sick or go on vacation. What happens when you are gone and somebody cant find the proven program so pulls it up in MCAM to post it again. CRASH Even sometimes as the only programmer, I have still made that mistake. At my previous job I did a lot of that and more often than not I got bit. That is why I am trying to make all 4 posts bullet proof. At this job I have the time. In the long run, to me, its worth it. No offense intended.
  2. I thought I was going to be able to finally help rather than get help, but you beat me to it.
  3. Some times we use the bar feeder, first op, somtimes we dont, second op. First op programs need to have a part length for the machine to read and code for the feeder. Feeder code is always the same. Heres what I'm thinking. Have a place to enter the part length and a switch to output part length and feeder code. Heres my problem. I dont know how to do it. In the past week I have done a lot of post mods. (hunt, peck, poke-oops), to move things around and change output, but this has me guessing. Is there a specific place in the post ref guide for this or not? Do I even have the right idea?
  4. Thanks guys, I made the mistake of asking the operators if 2 diff. start points would work. They said no because that is not the way they were taught and it wont work. quote: what MasterCAM is trying to do with the different start points is compinsate for the more forward location of the cutter with the bigger depth of cut. I was thinking this also. It works great. Better threads because not dragging on the back side. I quess I should have done that sooner. Thanks again
  5. Harry, I am currently doing cut and past but need to find a better way. Prefer no edits after posting. Rick, The reason for increased depth on the second op is to take less passes, only cleanup is necessary.
  6. Harry, What we are doing is threading, clean up chamfers with O.D. tool, than take 2 to 3 passes on threads again.
  7. Does anyone know how I can make the Z start point the same on 2 operations of the same thread? This is what I get. G00 T303 (O.D. THREADER) G00 X1.6 Z.2028 G76 X1.3978 Z-.93 K.0511 D.02 I0. F.08333 G00 T303 (O.D. THREADER) G00 X1.6 Z.1874 G76 X1.3978 Z-.93 K.0511 D.0471 I0. F.08333 Thanks for the help.
  8. Sure it's their opinion and they are entitled to it. Yes I could be influenced by these opinions. I would not make my decision based only on others opinions. However, they would definatley be a contriduting factor.
  9. Thanks Crazy, I have one too but havent had a lot of time to look at it or understand it. The more I poke around in the post, the more I learn.
  10. Chris, I'll give you another chance. I have a lot more stuff to fix yet. With what I am learning now, hopefully I can actually help somebody sometime rather than keep asking for help. Thanks again guys.
  11. I finally got it to post right. Now we need to make sure it works on the machine. Thanks a bunch Jimmy. Ive been pulling my hair out on this one (what little I have)
  12. After talking to the Emco rep. P & Q can be 4 places with no decimal or supress leading 0's Here is what I get G76 P010029 Q.002 R.002 G76 X.3834 Z-2.23 P271 Q50 R0. F.05 Here is what I need G76 P010029 Q20 or Q0020 R.002 G76 X.3834 Z-2.23 P271 Q50 R0. F.05 It works right on the second line, but I cant seem to change anything to get the first Q correct. I even tried the MPLFAN post and got the same (wrong) output. I'm , what do I need to do?
  13. quote: What control is this for? 18i-T and 21i-T I have everything set as it should be and still not working. [ 10-06-2003, 03:46 PM: Message edited by: CNCGUY ]
  14. The G83 works great when changing to 16. Thanks I cant get the G76 to work no matter what I change the number to. Am I in the right place? fmt P 2 thddepth #Thread height absolute fmt Q 2 thdfirst #First depth cut in thread fmt Q 2 thdlast #Last depth cut in thread
  15. For Mill 8 to 9 I had to send all tool lib. to our reseller to convert. Just wouldn't work for us inhouse. Lathe 8 to 9 I converted but all tools showed up as a red block. As we created new tools, they displayed fine. Sorry I couldn't be more help [ 10-03-2003, 06:37 PM: Message edited by: CNCGUY ]
  16. Thanks guys. Im at home now so will have to try Monday AM. I'll let you know how it goes.
  17. If I change 2 to 4 it posts Q0
  18. I have a problem posting G83, Q is wrong and G76, P and Q are wrong. I have done very little post editing, I have the ref. guide, but not sure where to even start. Current G83 R.1 Z-2.0467 Q.15 F.004 Need G83 R.1 Z-2.0467 Q1500 F.004 Current G76 P010029 Q.002 R0. G76 X.3834 Z-2.23 P271 Q100 R0. F.05 Need G76 P010029 Q0020 R0. G76 X.3834 Z-2.23 P0271 Q0100 R0. F.05 If somebody can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thanks, Troy Running 9.1
  19. Mine too shows some threads but I dont have any problem with the computer hanging up or running slow.
  20. For 16 yrs. no more than 10 min. either way. Aug. this year it all changed. Much better job, more $, and best of all - not working for an idiot. I can actually do my job. No OT here, time away from home is about the same. Gas consumption is hard to get used to-sucks.
  21. Chris Sorry if I mislead you. I like the arcs rather than sharp corners so will stick with the G112. The only prob now is getting M23 (chute adv.) at hex op. and M24 (chute ret.) at following op? I do all comp in Mcam for everything (mill & lathe) that way there are fewer setup prob. with operators. Exception being I use wear on tight tol. mill parts. [ 10-01-2003, 01:55 PM: Message edited by: CNCGUY ]
  22. Chris, Thanks. That is real similar to what I get now that I turned it on. According to the emco tech. we can't radius corners with the G12.1, has to be 6 points so I dont think changing the output to G12.1 would work. What I get with the G112 is far better than the million lines of code that you dont know what its doing. Also noticed the G98 so I answered my own question from pre. post Thanks Again
  23. Sometimes it requires user and password, sometimes it doesnt. Sorry for the double post [ 10-01-2003, 12:31 PM: Message edited by: CNCGUY ]
