  1. There are two ways to define a custom tool, draw it to size or draw it at a size of 1 inch and have it "scale to size" with the diameter figure. I've put a small doc file in the Training_folder on CadCam's FTP Sight called "custom Tool.zip". The doc was created with version 9 but should work the same in X. Mark B
  2. Surface, the setting that you're looking for is on the Linking Parameters tab and its called "Part Clearance". This will increase the distance that the tool stays away from the part. If you send me the file?
  3. I'm not sure what the problem is without looking at the file but one setting that you'll want to check is the "fitting" setting on the Linking Parameter tab. The default setting is "minimize trimming" which could leave some extra material on your part. Change the setting to "machine entire pass" and give that a try. The "minimize trimming" is trying to add a "curl up" and may have to shorten the toolpath in order to clear the part geometry. If you're still having trouble, let me grab your file and I'll see what's up.
  4. Murlin, all of the HST (High Speed Toolpaths) have the curl up and curl down retract methods. You need to have the "minimum distance" selected on the Linking tab in order to get the curling up and down active.
  5. Jody I've been playing around with your file and I'm not sure why your getting your errors. I tried your toolpath (op #6) and it starts off pretty slow but seems to pick up speed and finishes in 15 minutes or so. I've uploaded your file back on the ftp sight called CTM 2-23-06-alt.zip. What are you getting for errors?
  6. I've put a zip file on the training_files section called HST Learning Lunch-Roughing.zip. I'll keep it up just for a couple of days. The power point needs to be updated so if you find some errors don't beat me up on it. You'll find that some things are going to be a little different, a MR2 build was used for the screen shots.
  7. HevyMetl I wasn't aware that we could set the max feedrate setting in Core Roughing in the operation defaults in the Control Definition. The way the HST toolpath are setup is to grab the max feed rate setting in Edit General Machine parameters in the Machine Defination Manager. Once the max feedrate is set for that machine the HST toolpaths should grab that setting. If you have trouble setting it I have a powerpoint on the HST toolpaths that shows how to make the setting and some of the other features. Mark B
  8. Thad is correct with the problem being a graphics card issue but I'm affaid that changing the graphic settings doen't normally help. The problem is that the cursor color is black so it dissapears in the graphic's area (using the default color setting). Normally getting an updated graphics driver will solve the cursor problem. You can also change the color of your "graphics background color" to something besides black. Mark B Applications CNC Software
  9. I'm looking for some help in tracking a couple of native files from AutoDesk and Cadkey. I'm hoping to get both Ipt and Iam files from AutoDesk Inventor along with a cdl file from Cadkey. The files are going to be used with some of the samples files. If anyone has something that they can send me please e-mail them to [email protected] Thanks, Mark B
  10. I'm still on my quest for some native translator files for X. I'm still hunting for some Solid Edge files (Par, Psm), if anyone has some files that they can send us, please e-mail them to [email protected]. Thanks, Mark B
  11. I'm looking for native translator files to put on the X sample files. I need help with Pro-E (Prt, Asm), Acis (sat), Step (stp, step), Solid Edge (Par, Psm), Inventor (Ipt, Iam), Catia (model, exp,Catpart), Cadkey (cdl) and Unigraphics (prt). If anyone has something that they can send me e-mail it to [email protected]
  12. John, I was having the same problem on my system with MR03304. I had installed the latest maintenance release and then had to reinstall an older version of 9. I found that doing a re-install of MR0304 with the repair option solved my problem. Mark B
