  1. I will have to check with the guy in systems on Monday morning. It was one of the nVidia cards is all he told me. The funny thing is all of my other files are great and everything I have created since is fine.
  2. I had Systems install a new video card. I am not allowed to touch those kinds of things here so I sent the list from the help page here on this site and said buy the top one recommended within our shop allowance. Bock on Topic. After the install, the first file I pulled up had lost all of the geometry for all of the operations. Funny thing is they show up as counted but will not regenerate until I reselect them. The chain manager is empty as well as all surface selections. This is the only file that this happened to. Has any one else expierenced this?
  3. I personally love that the values carry over. I do multiple surfacing operations and this one more change I can over look. HOWEVER, when you go to your finishing operations if you forget it the you end up machining air and wondering why. Hevy
  4. Phil, I guess I tend to forget this is WWF world wide forum.
  5. What a creep I can be. Congratulations on the new Job. In this area it is just great to have a job
  6. Are any of you guys working or is it just me. I am checking my machines via video making sure they haven't burned the building down. Have a WONDERRRFULL Holdiday.
  7. We run a sodick hole popper and routinly do .5mm down thru 2.o" with great straightness and concentricity. I can purchase tubing down to .1mm where you can burn about .3" with little to no problem. To get your hole yo would need a .25 mm tube(small for overburn). This would give you about a .012-.014 hole depending on material and conditions. You would just have to make and extended guide out of a dowl pin to support your tube at the bottom of predrilled hole.
  8. One thing I have to be careful of in filtering surfaces created by parabolic spine equations is that if you don't set your filter small enough with a fine total tolerance you get small gouges. I acutually make the surface rougher because two side by side passes will out put slightly different radii causing small gouges in my electrodes. I try to run a .0003 total tol with with a .0007 filter with .005 min arcs when I need to decrease a file size. By the way my biggest parts are 1.5" by 1.5" Has anybody else expiremented with these setting for best results?
  9. I do all of my design work in Pro/E. I then translate iges into MC. I have the options of solid, or surface and wireframe. I have been using surface and wireframe, because I use the surface to drive my mill and wireframe to drive my wire. I would prefer to use the solid when I go to V9 next week, because of the automation MC has added. Has any one expierenced any problem with the egdes that MC generates on the solid. I design and build small component molds with many wire inserts within inserts so any variation in these curves could kill my fit. And yes I know it is Sunday morning, but the completion dates keep getting shorter and shorter.
  10. Yes we went with the 30k spindle, SGI.3, and the Blum laser for tool h,d, and r.
  11. I am currently in the middle of a purchase of a new Makino SNC 64 G/S, upgrading from a Fadal 3016. Are there any idiosyncrasies that I need to watch out for? I will be doing both electrodes and hardened cavtiy work.
