Thanks to everyone, I got it to work.
Then on my drive home, had an epiphany.....
If you run out of cutter comp, tell mc the tool is a smaller diameter....Doh
I have a kennametal inserted thread mill. I'm trying to create a 1"-11.5 npt thread. Now it seems to want to work backwards...i.e. bigger at the bottom of the id and shrinking towards the top.... I've tried changing the taper angle to a negative to no avail....
Somebody save me... LOL
thats what I had in the book too, couldn't get it to work on one of the lathes, but it seems to on the other,
Just need to figure out how to make it do what i want now.
I have a Fanuc O-i control on a Femco lathe.
Is there a parameter to change to use the g34 code? Has anyone used this and can give me an idea where to start?
I need to do a 1 inch per thread to a 1.75 inch per thread over 20". 15 turns
Cant find the info on the net, so I thought I'd hit up the real geniuses here!
Thanx
Jer
I draw in MC exclusively. I don't know how to use solidworks, except to translate it to a format I can pull into MC.
When I do use solidworks, I find that alt f1 doesnt work!!!

Has anyone used one of these? Indexable inserted slotting tool.
I got one and it has parallelogram inserts. I can either have a parallel slot with angled sides, or a perp side, with an angled slot.
I need to set up the insert so I get both parallel and perpendicular.
The tool is made by Michigan Drill Corp.
I'm open to any suggestions.
thanx in adv.

Its a moot point, he doesn't have the spindle orient function add on.
If he did, it would be M19 P45. for 45 deg. angle,
You can also use R for up to 4 decimal places.
He just needed to put a small hole in the front of the part, on the face.
Thanx for the replies.
