  5. Okay, So I am at the new place and on the mori-seiki it's a NH5000 not a SH ..controller is MSG-501 and I am having some post problems... to say the least It's spitting out sub-routines and I don't have any on the make subs boxes checked. I am between a rock and a hard spot I could send the file to someone if they want to check it out...I really don't speak the post language and I need parts help me mr. wizards
  6. Rstuart, Good luck to ya.... I'm going to a new place also but they do have Mcam... guess we can compare transition storys Anywho best of luck Bill
  7. well it's time to be hitting the road I want to thank all of you for your words of encouragement. it's going to be a little tough at first as my fiance won't be outthere for another month. So i'll be staying at some little motel until she gets there and we close on the house. But in some ways that's okay, it will allow me to concentrate on the task at hand so it's off I go and will be back once I'm online again
  8. Pencil Cam Apt Lisping out from Acad Smart and Surfcam Geopath Pro-Man TekSoft Gibbs or GagCam on a mac no less Solutions 3000 that went to Autodesk something or another-- you MI. guys should remember that Leonard systems -- forgot name BobCad BridgePort-EZ Cam Various Vb progs. I wrote for parametric paths And of course MasterCam Not in any particular order, just trying to remember them all. It's really been a determined by who the heck you are working for thing than anything else.
  9. Harryman, The got the mill/turn there too Mori-seiki SL-25 Mc-500 ?? if that be right
  10. The guy I worked for last out here in NM Just put all the files in the mc8 folder.
  11. I was wondering how ya'll go about saving your files I got in the habit of making directorys off the default mc9 dir by customer names Then another dir by projects if needed then another dir by part number or name Then I could put all the associated info about that particular part in that dir..oops excuse me folder:) I can put the supplied cad file in there, any docs. that I have , a simple reminder to myself or others about that particular job etc use names for the ncfiles..like op1, op2, etc makes it real easy to find all info later instead of ALL files being in the mc9 folder and paging thru till you find a part # or cross referencing from a notebook So how do you go about it? Hey I'm getting my post count up if nothing else
  12. Oh yeah one more thing... I'm using local subs on the Haas m97 not m98 so its' one program I don't have to change programs to edit a sub just page down to the starting n number of the sub. Not too sure how many other controllers have the local subs option, but it's sweet
  13. Rekd, Not sure what your meaning. Do you mean running say two or more parts at once. Or one or more parts with different ops on it. Again dependent on how much geometry is involved. If I'm cutting them in softjaws or using a hard stop. With softjaws, I'll see how many parts I can get in, cut my jaws, I know what the distance between is , draw up one part layering geometry per tool translate the geo. and pick c/p starting at one side to the other next tool from other direction and so on. Hard stops.. use the work offsets and subs main prog to control toolchanges and sub call block delete on to ignore the multis, check 1st part ... then let it rip Multi ops ... finish one op with a few extras, provided it's not too pricey and same methods as above.. then you have a couple of spares for the next order or to setup with on next op. I wrote a vb6 prog to take a one part program and make how ever many multi you want using w/o's Hardly ever use the editor. Would like to see something like multi prog with subs and w/o in V10
  14. Well if nothing else by moving it up we would be spared some of the ads
  15. Gcode, Yes I can agree with that. But it seems to me to be a step in the wrong direction. If there is any validity at this point that there is even a slight chance of something happening. Should we not be moving things up, to thwart such a plan. Heck I say have it this Sept.11th.. which is a Sat. to boot... there would be a bigger turnout as most people would have the day off anyway. It would send the message that we are not going to coward and be intimidated
  16. along with the vast majority of voters that could very well happen I don't get it tho.. why delay..isn't that sending the message that we really aren't any safer now And to think they would delay.:)what push it back to thanksgiving then congress recesses to the end of the year
  17. You know this really doesn't make any sense to me what so ever. Delaying the election because of terrorist concerns. If this really is a concern why DELAY.. why not push the election UP. Delaying would give more time for the terrorist to organize. Moving them up would give them less time. It's like ...Oh something MIGHT come up with these parts so we better be LATE on them instead of EARLY. Also how about making election day a holiday and not just for the banks or have it on Sat. or Sun.
  18. I want to thank you all for the well wishes. I really feel that it's going to work, sure there will be some problems no doubt. I get a strong sense of teamwork being in play there and that makes me pretty happy right there. Grown weariy of the solo effort feelings and back-biting etc. It's going to be the big five oh birthday coming up next month and I feel like I got a present early
  19. Also, any Nebraskians out there.. seeing as That's where I'm headed..like to take this opportunity to say .. Howdy!! I love what I seen out there... migrating from the desert, nice to be around things that are green:).. guess I'll be getting used to some colder winters tho Guess it's time to say "Go Huskers" and hope James doesn't give me too hard a time
  20. ts53, We had a OKK horz. when I was out in Cali. seemed to me it moved x backwards too
  21. James, I'm not sure what features the makinos or the mori-seiki have... one makino they have had a couple of years ... one a little longer the mori is brand new. I could look on their facilities list but I think all it covers is travel... I'm really stoked about this new job. It is the direction that I wanted to go. It will be a little different than the last place...it's like a hospital .. as soon as a chip hits the floor someone is right there sweeping it up ....so unlike the last place I was at. Anywho I'm still in NM and will be heading out there this weekend... really glad that it came thru...as last fri. before we left my finace put down a deposit on a house... before I found out I had the job.....whew... not like I worry about things like that or anything The auto t/len feature would be way cool... I take it with the makino.. they said there were 2 sides of the controller... I'm taking it one side manages tools, work offsets, the pallet and the other side manages the part program.. bets me.. I'll be finding out soon enough
  22. So instead of looking down, i'm just standing behind it now instead looking straight out. I hear you on the toolchange.. Z going home ...but xy too?.oh yeah because it got to get to the toolchanger ...duh not like the vmc's where the toolchangers come to the spindle... oh those little differences It those pre-job jitters... don't want to be smacking the spindle nose into the tombstone:) automagically .... James I like that term so does that jive .. mori sh5000.. that would be the machine name... I meant to catch the model #.. but you know how it is sometimes in the interview when they throw a bunch of stuff at you quickly.. it has 20k rpm.. tho I don't think they have made bought the tooling to support those r's They bought another 3axis lathe in the meantime I guess maybe one of the things I didn't think of and they brought it up is making sure that your indicator is gutentight due to gravity I'm not too sure if they have their posts all dialed in.. Sure would hate to pose that dreaded "Need a post" question here
  23. So I'm leaving the verticals and switching over to the horz. in the new job I got Look like a great company and they have made some big bucks investments.. diverse products..etc.. the kind of stuff you like to see in your employer. I been a vmc guy and wondering what type of reprogramming of my brain I'm going to be looking at... beside holding my head sidewise Certainly there is the incorporating operations That would normally be seperate ops on the vmc. Makino A51's and some new mori-seiki hs5000. I think that is the mori model.. 20,000 rpm anyway thru tool coolant... speeds and feeds are surely going to be a bit different than the 7500rpm vf4 to say the least One of the a51 is true 4th axis the other 4th axis positioning. I guess there is a makino side and fanuc side of the controller..?? And there is MCam too... thanks
  24. I would like to see Vb.net myself... not really a c person... would seem to be more like VBS than c would
  25. I have passed this on to some other newsgroups. I hope others will do the same. We need to info others so that something like this doesn't happen again.
