  1. I've used it on pockets with lots of bosses scattered around the bottom. I was getting reductions of anywhere from 40 to 67% based on the number of obstacles to go around. Makes the machine haul !#@ when going around them. It is very impressive for the boss to watch also.

  2. If money is not a huge concern, like i can go a month without it type of situation then I would go for it. If not then be cautious. I think that learning is the most important thing, if you are learning alot at the new job that the old don't offer then take the new. We ain't gonna get rich working for sometone else so we might as well learn all we can and enjoy are job as much as possible. From what you have stated i say go for it. If it don't work out there are lots of jobs. Hell you could move to Cali and bag groceries for almost a tool makers wage. rolleyes.gif

  3. Hastelloy doesn't turn as bad as it mills from my experiance. I like to use a sharp edge profile insert with 1/32 corner R like for cutting stainless. Only go About .008-.009 on the feed and give it a decent depth of cut .04+. Interupted cuts is what is he#$ on the insert. Just don't scrap a piece or the boss will tear up. Its expensive eek.gif

  4. So your bosses don't bring you crap that says made in macadonia or melasia and expect it to cut for f'ing hours on end. Or if cutting rhine cavities (half dia deep slots) on a mold and the cut time is 6 hours he brings you back one end mill and says let me no if you need more i'll go get ya some. Thats go purchase because god forbid we actually have any on the self. Sorry for the rant just one of those days rolleyes.gif

  5. I've been a member here for along time. But not to many posts. I read everthing just don't put my .02 in often. This place to me is like your work place. Everyone is professional with some kind of smart!@@ twist. This is what makes this place so popular. But if a guy just likes to rub people for something to do he won't make it at a job and shouln't be tolerated hear either. At least thats how i see it.

  6. Does this guy ever have anything good to say or are you just a d!(# all the time. Your one of those guys that if someone says its dark, you'll say its light. Go to chat room and talk your **** there. The people here are way above your level and should not waste there time repling to your punk rude remarks.

  7. YEp, in Mich hear houses are resonablly cheap. But my propane bill is 450. a month all winter so it makes up the differance. I think that some of the space money could go to more usefull things. Mars is cool but not necessary. I know alot of people make their living off aerospace projects such as that but i would like to see more energy producing projects. That might lower costs and make are country not so under the thumb of oil producing country's.

  8. Yeah that is how I think mc looks for stock to be machined. It did this also on version 8 as well. Just last week i had to make 0-9&a-z stamps out of bronze. They were hot stamps for marking telephone poles. Was a tedious job though will all the translating the letters into the rectangle. Was side job for previous employer though with no cam system (CHEAP xxxx) so they were impressed with what mc could do.

  9. I no i really got fired up at looking at some f the speeds and feeds you said you are running. Millman if I may ask what kind of of tool holders are you running and what do you consider top rpm's for non collet tool holders. Say Parlec with standard set screws. These performance gains are great but i need to get some guidelines. (Been doing alot of searches)Any tips or sources would be greatly apprieciated.

  10. Yep we just hooked up a vf5 yesterday and the standard haas post would was not working with the fixture offsets. The mpmaster works awesome though right off the start. My old machines would only run 4000rpm and 300ipm(rapid) rolleyes.gif with dynapath controls. Now what am i gonna do with that other 6000 rpm biggrin.gif
