Thanks, have a good weekend all
sorry, shoulda been more specific...the mouse I use has 2 extra buttons, I think they are used for forward page and back page in internet explorer, I was wondering if they can be assinged mastercam functions, like main menu, or backup. Hope that clears it up
This C-hook is great, I don't know how I lived without it. I was wondering though..is there a way to assing a fuction to the forward and back buttons on the mouse? Thanks alot for sharing this bryan. Have a good weekend all of ya
Thanks for the suggestion Lars, I will try that for the future, and thanks FNMI for the spreadsheet that is very close to what I am looking for, it will help a great deal. Have a good weekend guys, thanks again for all your help
Does anyone have a excel spreadsheet that they use to keep track of feed and speed data for their operations. The settings in mastercam are ok, but they are a little limiting when the same tool is used in different applications, for instance plunge milling versus side milling. I am just looking for a neat way to keep track of what cutting conditions work best for each type of operation after they are fully tuned in. Thanks for any advice
Thanks for the replys. I will ask them to get me a decent dell, with at least 512ram and the biggest nvidea card avialable. If this sounds wrong please correct me. Thanks for your help
I am looking for a laptop to take home to do some work with mastercam. Stability is a big issue for me because I am not a computer genius. What would you guys recomend? Thanks for all input
thank you all very much for your help, I had no idea you could look at the config in editor. I changed it back to what roger said, and all is good with the world agian. Thanks again, you all saved me a lot of banging my head against the wall.
[extensions]
502. Document (ASCII) extension? .doc
503. Toolpath (NCI) extension? .vbs
505. Post customization extension? .pst
506. Plot extension? .plt
508. NC Program extension? .html
Dang youre good, I take it I should reset these to what you had in your post?
Thanks very much for your help
I was playing around with some .vbs setup sheets that I found on the FTP site, and must have done something wrong. Whenever I create a new toolpath, it will have .vbs where it should say .nci I had backed up my config, tried to use that with no luck. I also tried a fresh install and still it comes up .vbs, anyone got any ideas on how I could fix this.
Thanks in advance
I have not been able to find any info on the improvements or problems with version 9 that are supposed to be fixed with version 10. I am looking for a little help in case I need it to justify the maintence or update charge. My company likes to plan ahead so I would like to get my ducks lined up asap. Are any of you guys playing with version X yet? If so how is it?
Thanks
I tried searching but was unable to find something that I could get to work as an improvement to the default setup sheet mastercam has built in. I have been using mastercam for a while now, but have not had the need up till now to produce setup sheets, any and all help would be great, or a link to somewhere where I could download a few simple ones to try out. Thanks in advance
Thanks Cparish, I have and will continue to work around this, it just seems kinda dumb for there to be not switch to disable that. Thanks for your help
The way I see it right now, If I want to tap a 1/2-13, and in the operation I put in 130 RPM it will force the feed to be 10. IPM, I would like to have it feed at 9.9 so the floating holder will work correctly. I have not been able to find a switch to get it to stop automaticly adjusting the feed based on RPM. I hope this is a little clearer. Thanks for your replys
When setting the speed and feed for a tapping operation mastercam forces them to match or be rigid in other words. A lot of our machines are not capable of rigid tapping so I have to use floating holders and hand edit the feed rate to allow the holder to do its job. I hate hand editing code in any way, so I'm wondering if there is a switch to turn off this setting in mastercam. Thanks for your help
Thanks Bullines, I will be upgrading to version X. Your reply confused my simple little mind though is VB.net for more complicated things, and VBS for simplier tasks? And lastly what is OO? thanks for your help
I am interested in learning more about Vb to automate some of my mastercam tasks but I was told by a bright guy that VB is on the way out, and that VB.net will be taking its place. He says that they do not have much in common, so I should find out which way mastercam is going before I invest in classes. I am very ignorant about VB or any programming language for that matter, so any help at all would be great. Thanks ahead of time guys
I seem to be unable to save updated feed and speed data to the library without having mastercam creat a duplicate tool. For example, I have a countour toolpath, and adjust the sfm and chipload using the feed and speed calculator for the application I have and tell it to save to library. The next time i go to the library to look for that tool, there will be 2 tools with the same number, one will be the original and the other will have the updated values. I would like it to overwrite the library tool instead of just making copies. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance
