  1. How do you set the tolerance for edge curves when they are being created off a solid? When I try this the ribbon bar pops up and the tolerance box stays grayed out. Thanks
  2. Thanks for the offer Trevor, I may not need it after all. The Mori dealer is sending some stuff over, so I may be good. If it doesnt work though i may have to take you up on your offer. Thanks
  3. Ok, will do trevor, do you have some code so that I can compare ahead of the machine arrival. It will be running only 3 days ahead of me leaving for Costa Rica for 3 weeks, so I am trying to bulletproof this as much as possible.
  4. Hello all, I aint lookin for a free post . I was just hoping that someone could share a good code file for an NV, that has Aicc, toolchange and tapping examples in it. I think my other post will be really close but only have a week untill the machine gets here and need to get moving. The email in my profile is no good, my email addy is dzarb at htmfg dot com. Thanks a lot
  5. Very nice, thank you Hymen. Hehe, I do believe that is the first time I have ever said that.
  6. Thanks Matt, that is exactly what I was looking for.
  7. I am attempting to figure out how to program a lathe with mastercam for the first time and have what I hope is a simple question. We have a slant bed mori with a yasnac control on it and the guys have been using gibbs and writing programs for this machine by hand. There seems to be some canned cycles that handle a lot of the roughing and define the geo of the part, with things like depth of cut built in. Can I get that kind of output from mastercam? Or is the output more long-hand from mastercam, with the DOC variables and things like that handled by the cam side. Hope that makes sense, thanks
  8. I have 2003, when I try to save it to my personal marco workbook it says personal workbook folder in startup must stay open. Oddly enough though it only does this when i try to record a macro in a setup sheet that X plus just ran. I can access the personal workbook from other excel files. Weird. Maybe I am approaching this wrong...Did you record your macros and then apply them to the setup sheet after it was ran? Or did you modify his .xlt to get what you wanted?
  9. I am a newb to Excel but am trying to format the X+ output in excel. I am trying to record a macro that will arrange the bitmap, and data slightly different. Every time I try to record a macro it says error, personal macro workbook must remain open. Anyone seen that before? I can't seem to figure out how to find the dang thing let alone how to keep it open. Thanks in advance
  10. oops, got beat by a quicker and better definition
  11. Well this might not be totally accurate but here is how it was explained to me. Because of the nature of rotary axis moving with linear axis static feed rates wont work. The inverse time gives all axis' a coordinate to be at in a given amount of time so that they all arive at that point at the same time. So some axis' will need to move faster then others to complete certain moves. hope that helps
  12. Does that not work with solids?
  13. When I bring in a solid to turn in Lathe what is the easiest way to machine it? Do most of you guys create edge curves or is there an easier way? I am a total newb at lathe so please use small words.
  14. Bummer sorry dude, cant think of what else to try, maybe send it in to QC.
  15. I sent in a file to my tech support yesterday with the very same issue. Sometimes it would output the correct offset sometimes not. Here is a workaround he told me " You should be able to fix it by selecting all your original ops, right-clicking and going to edit selected operations > edit common parameters. Next, check the box next to planes, then set the WCS to TOP and un-check the box next to the work offset. OK out and regen all and you should find that they all post out to the three different work offsets now. " Let me know if that helps you, I think its a very dangerous bug.
  16. In my experience the Mori's will cut 20 or so % better in heavy cuts, but will be nothing but a big pile of small pain in the A$$ problems like the ones you mentioned. The Mazak horizontal at my last job was a very good machine, and 25% less then the Mori equivelant. just my .02
  17. sorry got to edit that later. My email is dzarb@htmfg dot com
  18. interesting, ok, i'll give it a bit but if noone else has a fix ill try that. Thanks doyleg. Yeah rick the initial translate op worked great, but does not work right after the rotate.
  19. I did exactly what you said doyleg, but it still machines the parts on one face, then it will rotate and machine the parts on the other face. The box that lets you order by tool is greyed out in rotate, or at least on mine.
  20. Yeah, it works great for translate, but its greyed out in rotate. In short what I am attempting to do is translate a group of ops 3 times in X. Then rotate that op 180 about X axis so it will cut the parts on the other side of my column. HTH
  21. I am using X2 MR 1 sp1 and am having trouble getting a transform rotate operation to do what I want. I uploaded a file to MCX2_files on the ftp called rotate.mcx. I have 6 parts to do on a column on a 4rth. 3 parts on 2 faces 180 deg off from one another. I am trying to machine these without any extra tool changes but am having no luck with the rotate portion. If someone could take a look it would be much appreaciated. Thanks Dave
  22. That was it, thanks a hell of a lot, you just saved my hours of beating my head against a wall.
  23. The t plane is set to front, and the rotary is on the right hand side of the machine. I know I can change parameters in the machine to get this to work, but it seems like I am missing a switch or something somewhere in mastercam.
