  1. I prefere the ones with the indicator in them they are in the J&L catalog.
  2. hay look more "Fort Wayne" on the form. Do you get the same error if you use a differnt program to send the code, like Cimco?
  3. FNMI what are you using for dnc software?
  4. Don't have an OPR/ALARM button or OPR softkey. Don't have any softkeys. Softkeys, row of buttons under the screen right? I think softkeys came on 10M and newer. I have a settings key, the settings screen has a setting for RS232C. I have it set to 1.
  5. Tried setting the knob to tape mode as you described, nothing.
  6. We have a 1981 Hitachi Seiki VA40 with a Fanuc 6M that we purchased used. The machine had been neglected and sat for some time. After tending to some neglected maintenance we have the machine running quite well but have the following problems, or annoyances. While these are not all Mastercam questions the users of this group have proven to be very helpful in the past. We have been running Fadal’s for the last few years and have forgotten the ins and outs of these older Fanuc’s. Program start: When a program is started the machine must be at the reference position or it will crash. Programs start and end as follows. % O0001 G20 G0G17G40G49G80G90 G0G90G54X.5527Y0.S1550M3 G43H1Z.5M8 Z-.4 G1Z-.1F7. Blablabla X.2851Y-.0035Z-.2733 G0Z.1 Z.7351 M5 G91G28Z0.M9 G28X0.Y0.A0. M30 % DNC: For the life of me I can not get straight answer on how to tell if this machine is cable of DNC! I know how DNC works and what it is, been using it for as long as I’ve been a machinist. How can I tell if this machine is callable and if so how do I set it up? I have the machine sending and receiving to a pc but need to DNC. Tool change: This machine has a side mount tool changer that is random access. How can I change the V9 mpfan post to pre-stage the tools for a tool change? I.E. have the T# before the M6. Thanks in advance.
  7. I need a plunger activated indexer like the one by Yuasa, but don't want to pay the Yuasa price. http://www.sudetco.com/Yuasa/Yuasa's%20Super%20Rapidex.htm
  8. Everyone is in a rush for X. A lot of Fadal users wanted Fadal to update thier control and look what they got, the 104D. It was such a flop it is now off the market. Give CNC the time to get the bugs out so when X is on your computer you'll be glad it is.
  9. “maybe next year the company can afford it.” In the mean time you’re only running at 70% of what you could be. This is cheaper than the class? If you by a new machine and run it just like you ran the old one, why did we buy the new machine? Investing in technology and then using that technology is the only way to be competitive anymore.
  10. Do the magnetic switches for spindle orientation ware out? It seems to hunt for orientation at tool change. Also if anyone has one of these they would part out we would like BT tool change fingers, or trade our CAT fingers for your BT.
  11. We have had the machine for a week. The dealer claims the machine ran fine for them. When running the machine from memory, it will sometimes run fine for a couple hours. Then it will just stop, green cycle start light stays on and no errors are displayed. If you let it sit, 30 secounds to 30 minutes it will start up agin. It seems to be M cammands that do it the most. So far all we have tried is cleaning the cards, and the magnetic switch for spendle orentation.
  12. No, not drip feeding. Running from memory or MDI commands. We don't have the DNC set up yet.
  13. Machine is a 1981 and has G54-G59 option. No lighting strikes that I know of. "We have some of these old Hitachi clunkers and it is very funny how just as the heat and humidity came, the machines started to act up!!" That is what I'm thinking, one of these cards is acting up becouse it didn't like move and is just showing it's age.
  14. Phil, Dosn't seem to be any pattern as when it dose it. Although it maybe when M codes are commanded, M19, M30, M03, M98, etc. The machine is located just north of Fort Wayne Indiana.
  15. Don't think it will be that easy, Fanuc thought of that too. When it stops the green cycle start light stays on, and pushing start dosn't do anything.
  16. We have a Hitachi Seiki VA40 with a Fanuc 6M. Every once in a while, or all the time, the machine will pause in the middle of a program. Apparently waiting for the signal that it finished the last command. Mori Seiki and Fanuc have been very helpful over the phone but haven't been able to find the source of the problem. Dose anyone know of someone experienced in my area that could diagnose and fix this problem. The machine is located just north of Fort Wayne Indiana.
  17. Not sure on that, we don't have the right retension knobs yet. By the way what post are you using with your machine?
  18. I just adjusted the limit switch about a 1/64" and it works fine. Thanks everyone for the input.
  19. Yes, Z axis homes out fine. Machine postion shows zero 00.000 when on the soft limit switch, also the tool change height.
  20. it is aligned with the tool change arm, but on the position desplay page the relative for z is 19.0880 and the absolute is 61.8572. I think this is my problem. how can I reset the sbsolut?
  21. tool change height has always been the same as the referance point, on the soft limit, this height still shows the same on the readout.
  22. I have a Hitachi Seiki with a Fanuc 6m. We had a horrid noise coming from the Z axis. Turned out to the bearing on the end of the Z axis servo. We replaced it put everything back together and the noise is fixed but the machine will not tool change. It references fine and every other function seems OK. Do we need to "reset" some setting in the control?
