  1. Hello I would like to get some ideas/suggestions/best methods to convert Solids to Surfaces and minimize / eliminate gaps between the surfaces. Information such as tolerances to use when creating Solids / converting solids to Surfaces would be greatly appreciated. Currently, creating Surfaces from Solids created in Mastercam itself sometimes end up having gaps between surfaces. Regards.
  2. bug4 : 0 Have you contacted your Mastercam reseller to get support? Normally they provide support for these simple issues. Also a simple email to [email protected] with your customer information and details, such as company name, address, etc. and SIM number should help. Also, it seems that you are using V7 of Mastercam. Good luck!
  3. Moldplus and Catread/Write for Mastercam V9 are now available. Contact your local resellers to get them.
  4. Moldplus and Catread will be ready for Mastercam V9 very shortly. The current release of Moldplus Version 9 is for Mastercam 8.1.1 The Moldplus Version 9 for Mastercam 9 is around the corner. It is currently in the Beta stages since all is still early with Mastercam V9 release. So, it is not ready yet for release. The Catread for Mastercam 9 is also not avialable yet. Also around the corner. The current version is still for Mastercam 8.1.1 Regards.
  5. It is not solely the issue with installing the latest XP drivers for the HASP sim. There is a HASP issue also and could be related to the HASP not functioning well with the XP operating system. The XP HASP drivers will install fine. But HASP80.exe or HASP9.exe will show the SIM as uninitialized. No solution to this. The SIM does the same for 2 different hardware systems, both running XP. Speaking from current experience. Regards [ 01-30-2002, 01:59 PM: Message edited by: Consultant ]
  6. Have you considered having your reseller give you another SIM to work with the XP operating system? You may want to swap out the HASP SIM and see if this a randlom isolated situation based on the HASP.
  7. If you are looking for Mold Design package that imports proper assemblies, etc. then you might want to look at a new solution for Solidworks called IMOLD. This is a neat program that will allow you to do your whole mold design from solid separation to cooling channels and the addition of components. When you are done, you cal always read the Solidworks part files directly into Mastercam for machining purposes. You may want to check this website out: http://www.corewareusa.com Regards
  8. If you do electrodes in Mastercam, or need a tool to do electrodes, this is the best solution. The new version Moldplus9 for Mastercam 8.1.1 provides excellent tools for isolating electrode geometry, inserting electrodes and then getting a report of the electrodes in a text format and HTML format report. Visual, logical and simple! Contact your Mastercam representative to try Moldplus for 30 days at your site. You can also visit the site at www.moldplus.com Regards.
  9. V9 addresses this issue. Each user can create his own Mastercam CFG file with the preference of his choice and then create different shortcuts to start Mastercam with that specific shortcut. For example, "John" can create a config called John.cfg and launch Mastercam as follows with the following being the "target information. C:MCAM9MILL9.EXE JOHN.CFG By doing this, it is very simple to have as many shortcuts as you desire. Regards. [ 11-21-2001: Message edited by: Consultant ]
  10. Just try to figure out this What is the kinetic energy in joules when a cart of 6 stones weight is travelling at speed of 2 furlongs and 1 stadion in one minute. The formula to use is Energy=1/2*mass*speed*speed Here is a hint:1 furlong = 10 chains, 1 chain = 4 rods Maybe you get an idea how our customers feel about inches and other imperial units ---------------------------------- By the way, on the first of July in 1863 by votes 110 to 75 the British parliament approved the Bill of measurements to make metric units compulsory. There was no date for dropping the old units, so they have passed several other bills later. This info according to Jim Humble, who was the last Director of the UK Metrication Board 1978-1980. -------------------------------- All about my mother's cookbook "Add approximately 28.3 grams of sugar" ------------------------------- Please make sure that we do not have to see retract of 50.8 mm etc. What if it would be 2.031 inches? What would the US customers think? -------------------------------- [ 11-19-2001: Message edited by: Consultant ]
  11. Login script to change the current user's SIM TYPE to N sounds like the ideal solution. In this way, as the student loads up, the script reconfigures the SIM type. A network administrator should know how to reset the settings of a current user (OR perhaps) since it is current user based for loading registries, maybe they should edit the core student registry to permanently indicate SIM TYPE as N.... Somewhere down the line at school, you are reading a set of registry values. The network admin might know where. We already know what variable is affected. The SIM settings cannot be written to Local Machine, since it defeats the purpose of a Network concent to a relative degree. I know that no one at Mastercam has reviewed this issue to this detail. Maybe, someone should check with Aladdin (the SIM manufacturer's ) and see if they have a better or more logical solution IF the login script doesn't work. But, I have a feeling the Login script should work or hard-coding the Current User registry info. Regards.
  12. This is back to your settings again. Mastercam NETHASP will not set the system back to Local HASP when you shut the machine down. Registry control is usually done on the system level. So, if you set your SIM to NETHASP with administrative rights, you should be fine. The next time you reboot the system and the system shows up with NETHASP, you are fine. If it doesnt, the system is always loading a new registry and deleting all the temp files (as they need to for the Internet temp files in a network environment), then you have to talk to your network administrator. The key is setting up your system and not losing the registry info. Then, if you want to set to a local HASP, you control it. Mastercam install has nothing to do with the system behavior - which is more related to system administration. Hope this makes sense. Good luck...
  13. Do not know the existence of a SIMTYPE.EXE file. Not a standard provided file in 8.1.1 Only file that controls the variable, based on the files provided is NHASP80.EXE from the MCAM8 folder. Regards.
  14. (RE-EDITED) This sounds like a Network Administrative rights issue. The type of SIM (Nethasp in this case) gets written into the Windows Registry. It looks like each time the system is shut off, original registry items are brought up and the current configuration is deleted. Each time you launch the NHasp80.exe and switch the type of SIM to N, this is written into the "HKEY_CURENT_USERSoftwareCNC Software, Inc.Sim Type" variable. (It says "H" for HASP and "N" for Nethasp) Contact your network administrator at school and mention that you need a permanent change to the Windows registry of each system as mentioned above to show the SIM TYPE to N. This should solve the problem. Regards [ 11-12-2001: Message edited by: Consultant ]
  15. You need to first determine where it crashed (approximately what line of code) Did you filter arcs into the NC program? If so, were they on 3 planes XY, YZ or XZ? See if you can find out first of all if it is a machine problem and if it was cutting an arc. Some machines are known to do strange things when there are arcs that are fit in and the arc tolerance handling is pretty low, meaning - cannot handlt really small arcs. If you determine that it is not a machine problem, then you have to verify the NC program. To verify the NC program, Mastercam wont do that for you. Cimco might do a decent job, but the best and most reliable is Metacut View. Download the program from the www.metacut.com website. It should run for a 30 day trial period for free. It should recognize the NC program as a FAdal program. Define the tools used and the stock definition and run a Solid verification on it. IF there are any gouges, IT will tell you and will mark the exact line of code where the gouge occured. You can easily look at the previous line of Z and the current Z and the next Z and determine if that caused a gouge or not. If this program tells you that the NC program is clean, it is definitely in the Fadal. Good luck!
