  1. How do you have your Affinity set up John? Does each mastercam window utilize all 4 cores, or just 1 each?
  2. Whenever I have 2 windows of MCAM X2 going at the same time it seems to really bog down the computer. When I go into my task manager and look under "Set affinity", they are both set to only Core 0. If I set one to a different core then the performance comes back. Is there a way to instruct X2 what core(s) to use when it starts up?
  3. By selecting only one other toolpath, the restmill will cut the entire floor. Saves time by clicking all previous toolpaths.
  4. The file wasn't as big as I thought. If you go back to www.nilantool.net there is a file called top_plate.zip. This has all the toolpaths.
  5. The HST Horizontal is to finish the floor (which is relief) leaving a 1/4 ledge around the walls (finish later). Also do that before the restmill so the restmill doesn't want to cut the entire floor. There are toolpaths missing to make the file smaller. But these toolpaths were required to show what is happening. Are you suggesting that I should restmill to an STL file?
  6. I am working on a plate that is too large in the "X" axis to completely machine. I can machine half, rotate, and machine other half. In mastercam I am rotating the WCS around the "Z" axis so I don't have to create more geometry. Here lies the problems I am having: It seems that when I run highfeed or restmill, mastercam isn't recognizing the rotated WCS. (you can download the file@ http://www.nilantool.net/mastercam/rotatedwcsglitch.zip With the toolpath in the top WCS (1st group) the toolpath the restmill program creates is incorrect (hard to explain). BUT if you delete toolpath #1, then it creates the proper toolpath. Same with highfeed - with toolpath #1 in group 1, it starts throwing in air cutting feedrates in full material. Remove toolpath #1 and runs just fine. Any ideas how to get around this?
  7. Could you export a toolpath into an NCI format and just import the NCI file into an older version? I've done that in V9, but don't know if you can do that in X2.
  8. murraymold - Did you adjust the tolerances to .0001? They are much looser by default. You have to manually change. Then try again.
  9. Ok. That was it. Wasn't quite sure how it works, but now I do. Thanks for the help.
  10. I tried that. Was trying to program for a 1/2 endmill. Got the error. Went all the way down to a 1/32 end mill just to see if that would help - still same error.
  11. This is the first time I am using the peel mill toolpath. I am testing it out on a pocket that is 3.8in x 11.8in x .5in dp. I consistently get an error message that reads "Slot width too narrow. Increase slot width, or use smaller tool, rough offset, and/or rounding radius". I tried making everything smaller and still the same area. Any suggestions?
  12. This is strictly a finish pass with about .0015 stock on the wall. I have rough turned off. Just want the cutter to climb cut one way - not a zig zag.
  13. I am using a 1mm ball cutter to cut a channel with a profile shape to it. I am running it as a zig zag just to get it done. Hope there is a fix for it. Used it alot in V9.1 MR0105. X2 MR1 SP1 does the exact same thing that MR2 is doing.
  14. Is anyone using the swept2r.dll Chook? I am creating a 2DSwept toolpath on an open chain and using the swept2r.dll chook to make it constant climb cutting. What's happening is when I use the chook, it takes off the tool compensation and puts the tip of the ball directly on the geometry causing a gauge in the part. I've used it in the past with no problems, but now I cannot it to work.
  15. I am having the same problem. I am working on a mold cavity that has over 10,000 little tiny surfaces that I have to cut with a 1mm ball EM. Had to take it back to MR1 to process.
  16. I installed MR2 over my MR1 installation. What a mistake. Continually get a "Unhandled Exception Occurred - Mastercam execution halted" error and bombs out my program. Installed on another machine and just keeps locking up. Uninstalled MR2 and went back to MR1 for the time being.
  17. Crashes here too. Crashes when I am exiting the launcher.
  18. Core 0 tops out a 59C while others top out at 51C. My pentium D ran at about 55C and topped out at 65C. This processor runs much cooler. I also don't have any case fans yet. Will pick those up soon. I do have a HD cooler on my raptor. I read that those run very hot.
  19. John, Thanks for the link for the utility. It shows all 4 cores running between 36-44C. The Tjunction is reading 100C. Is that normal?
  20. I think my mini-van was cheaper than your Precision 690. LOL! That computer had to run atleast $6k.
  21. CPU-Z says stepping B, Revision G0. As far as the temps, the ASUS probe only shows one temperature which is 40C. It doesn't show individual temps. Is there a utility for that somewhere?
  22. 7min 10sec. Brand new custom built machine from Tigerdirect.com Q6600 Quad-Core 2.4ghz 2gb PC-6400 Ram Asus P5K-E Motherboard 74gb WD Raptor HD (1 only) Quadro FX 1500 video Card Total build cost - $1600. Ran (2) simultaneous regenerations (dual monitors) - 7min 12sec.
  23. Thanks to everyone for the positive remarks. Dave - I looked at HAAS, but they don't have a bridge/gantry size mill big enough for doing mold work. The Amera-Seiki has an intro price of $239k. With options, it will end up around around $265k. Have to see if we can swing this deal.
  24. Thanks for the tip Kevin. Will have to check it out.
  25. It's only on the final step that I need to restmill. So I am creating individual tool paths at the various heights using the steep/shallow settings for HST. It's the final step that I will create a boundary and am going to use a pocket-remachining tool path. That should do the trick (I believe).
