  1. Todd, In my use I've found curves to work best, I've just stayed with what works for me. Try it might work for ya.
  2. Todd I Forgot to mention, that I set my misc integers (Misc values) button, to the appropriate setting so the machine gives me the move I want at the start point I need. Like G-code suggested.
  3. Todd, I’ve been able to move my start point when I’ve had a similar problem with Curve 5axis, like this- I go into op manager and left click on geometry, you should get the Curve 5 Axis dialog box, left click on 3D Curves (I figure you used curves instead of surface edge) then in the chain manager right click on your chain, select “Start Point” then Dynamic on the tool bar. You should be able to move your start location to the point that works. In X it’s the same except you when you get to the chain manager you click the red arrow.
  4. Kathy’s main point is being missed. MCX should be easy to use, i.e. experienced users shouldn’t have that much trouble, and the quality operations of MC9 shouldn’t be lost but enhanced in MCX. Is MC listening? Good job Kathy.
  5. In MC9 using Toolpath-Surface-Finish-Project, I could easily select my starting point after selecting my curves. In MCX I can’t seem to find how to select a starting point. Can anyone help?
  6. I can't seem to change my start postion on a projected tool path, what am I missing?
  7. I don’t do much drilling so I’m at a lost as to why my “Z” height changes when I switch tools. I’m trying to drill a series of holes perpendicular to the center line on the outside surface’s of my project. I selected a vector line to align my B & C axis (B90. C319.644) to be perpendicular to the center line. I’m using Drill Toolpath; select the points, backplot (everything looks good) and post. Now if I select another tool and post my Z height changes by tool length difference of the two tools. What am I missing?
  8. Thanks Steve I'll try that. I do keep my drive and check surfaces in different colors, but I have not tried window by mask. Nils
  9. In MCX I machine using surfaces. I’ve being selecting the surfaces by windowing. I’ll turn off the levels I don’t want and select the cutting surface by windowing. Then I’ll turn this level off and select check surfaces. When done, I have no more cutting surfaces and have to ‘try’ and reselect the cutting surfaces, then the check surfaces are gone and on and on. I eventually get what I want by either single selection or I get luckily the all the surfaces come in. Anyone else experiencing this?
  10. TKDBB In X after you select… -Create point -Cerate point segment -Select line -Check Verify Then on the ribbon Bar you’ll see # box, in the side box add the number of points you want and you’ve got it Nils
  11. I’ve had that happen too. It doesn’t always start there and as yet I haven’t been able to figure out why. I thought at one time that I was zoomed in to far and that did it, but not sure. Nils
  12. I’ve had these problems too. I use surfaces for tool paths and have had similar problems in X. The Surface doesn’t always-high light as in 9, even if the single box is checked and I get what looks like duplicate surfaces when trying to select a surface. This and a list of other bugs/learning curve too numerous to list… I’ve gone back to 9 until they get some of these worked out. But I’ll keep checking X, maybe on smaller jobs. Nils
