I am about to attempt my first modification of a post processor in V9.1 Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like some stuff I made pattern toolilng for some years ago. A mixture of aluminum and carbide. We prototyped track shoes for the M1A1 tank. Cast to size, no machining. Also made some large patterns for nat. gas pumps. Those were machined somewhere down south. Good f-in luck Chris

In version 9 go to analize - surfaces - all surfaces. set the tolerance to .0005 or less. see if the model checks out OK. If you have bad surfaces MC can spend time and memory trying to crunch a good toolpath and you can get that error message. Look for small thin surfaces that twist over on themselves.

Pine is softer and weaker than mahogany. Use lighter cuts and faster feeds. Consider using Ren Shape planks. Costs more but cuts better. No grain problems.

Came to work today to find a new 24" wide screen monitor. (Yeah!) Onr problem, now my circles look like ovals. I know there is a way to calibrate the screen but I cannot remember how. Anybody out there have any ideas? Mike PS this is for V9

Scotty, Give B&H Pattern in Appleton, WI a call, ask for Jim. They cut that stuff literally day and night. Like others said, it's ductile iron. The 65-45-12 designation refers to it's tensile strength etc. It machines quite well dry.

Pattern industry in the crapper in Canada also? I feel your pain Lee. After many years in the pattern/foundry industry I moved into mold work. Some learning curve. Not too bad. Try looking in the plastics or rubber molding areas.

How about going to a 7075 aluminum grade?

Make sure you have "optimize" unchecked
