  1. Hi all! I have been using Mastercam for several years, and have now installed Mastercam 2017. Because I want to have my own custom toolbar, I have now begun to build a custom tab in the Ribbon Bar. But there is one thing I don't understand. Totally random, some buttons are displayed as large, and some are displayed as small. Here's an example where I have added 7 commands I use often: As you can see, one button will be small, and the rest large. This is very annoying, and looks strange. It becomes impossible to create a smooth custom tab when it behaves like this. Is there anyone here who know what I'm doing wrong? Where is the setting that determines the size of the buttons?
  2. Hey all, I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me understand the process of creating a custom tool from the profile of a portion of a part. The tool will be to create a 30 degree chamfer that smooths into a 1mm radius. I have tried to highlight just the chamfer/radius that I want to mimic the cutting edges, but tool manager keeps giving me errors when I try to import from a level. I'll attach a couple pictures, one of the part (highlighted the chamfer/radius) and one of the profile I have of the tool. Thanks again guys.
  3. Hello mcam world, 1. For a while now I have been wanting to create a custom active report or tool list. Preferably using the right click "Tool List" option when in the operations manager. Attached is the format i would like to use as to keep things familiar to everyone at our shop. Looking at the format attached, do you think it's possible to create this? i'm not asking you to do it for me (unless you really want to mess with it) ,I'm just wondering if that's too specific for mastercam. 2. Is it even possible to change what template Mastercam uses in that right click option? It currently sorts the tools is order of use and not in sequential order. If i am just wanting to whip out a quick tool list I use this option. Setup sheets I use the "Setup Sheet" button under the "machine" Tab. 3. If it is possible to use this new format, can i then link it to the setup sheet button for an active report? I don't need tool holders displayed on the new list, i just want the basic info. Thanks for any and all info related TOOLLIST-BLANK.docx
  4. Hi All, I just wanna to share my NET-Hook what I developed for our community. I always missed this possibility from MCAM, to store custom notes, comments, data, etc THEN post them to NC code. Or simply just store some info in a MCAM part file. This NET-Hook will store then suggest your last 20 inputs, separately in each field. You can use it for store your custom data, info, programmer, customer, drawing, whatever you want... Not necessary but you can also output them to any NC code. Copy all the 3 files from ZIP to Mastercam CHOOK folder, then you good to go. Also I attached a sample post processor, look for "pNote2Post" postblock and calling of this postblock in "pheader$" section. This postblock will set "sN2Pfield_1...sN2Pfield_7" string variables based on your note fields in MCAM file. At first run please look for settings to set your custom fields. 5. Good morning all, I need to define custom turning tools (internal face grooving) in MasterCAM X7. These are solid carbide tools that do not use inserts. I do not see an option where I can get the graphics from an MCX file as with custom milling tools. Am I missing something? Thanks for any help. Benz
  6. Hello, I have been a long time user of AUTOCAD, and proud to say that I have been looking for MASTERCAM my whole life!! With out giving my life story, I started with autocad, than 3ds max, then inventer, to maya, and then I found Mastercam! I Love it this is what I have been searching for I have awsome designs, inventions, ect in my head and cant draw for the life of me since i was 16 im been trying to get these ideas out and here I am! Digressing; Topic Key Mapping Now Autocad is a bit diffrent in the sence that I was so good, I rarely had to draw mostly I type my dementions in the below command line. My drawing would be created above; example L+Enter = Line, Cir+Enter = Circle Getting faster and more complex L+Enter,8.5,-9.4, L+Enter9.4,5.8 ect. When I went to mastercam I have found the Key mapping under setting However, one Huge draw back is you can not use Shift+, this is a huge limitation to "Hot keys". Also you can only use one letter, and my Mouse is functionless. I can not right click + a letter or even use right click in general. Any one else out there that likes to use Key mapping as much as I do? I tell you I save hours over others by avoiding drop down menus and clicking Icons. Lastly Im wondering if anyone has found the green check mark used as "OK" to add a hot key too? gets annoing using a hot key to then turn around and have to click a icon almost makes the hot keys pointless. Thanks,
  7. Hi, I am quite struggling with my post processing macro. I would like to add another peck drilling macro with additional parameters. So far I have had no luck in getting it working. The custom peck drill cycle I am trying to add is described in G-code as: Code name: G84 G90/G91 G99/G98 G84 X_Y_Z_R_I_D_Q_(J_K)(P_)F_(L_); The values in brackets are optional. X: X coordinate Y: Y coordinate Z: Z coordinate R: Z coordinate of return point (prdrlout) I: First cutting depth (initial cut) D: Runout distance from drilling depth Q: Basic cutting depth after second cutting (peck1) J: Every cutting decreasing depth after third cutting K: Minimum cutting depth P: Dwell time F: Cutting feed rate L: Repeated number Example: N106 G99 G84 X-.14 Y-.575 Z-2.76 R.5 I.6 D1. Q.1 F150. N107 X1.14 Y-2.575 N108 G80 Here is the post macro I have done: fmt "Q" 2 peck1$ #First peck increment (positive) fmt "D" 2 runout$ #Runout distance fmt "I" 2 initial$ #Initial cut prdrlout #R drill position refht_a = refht$ refht_i = refht$ - initht$ if absinc$ = zero, refht_a, !refht_i else, refht_i, !refht_a ppeckdetail$ #Detailed Peck Drill Cycle pdrlcommonb pcan1, pbld, n$, *sgdrlref, *sg84drl, pfxout, pfyout, pfzout, prdrlout, *initial$, *runout$, *peck1$, *feed, strcantext, e$ pcom_movea pdrill_2$ #Canned Drill Cycle, additional points pdrlcommonb pcan1, pbld, n$, pfxout, pfyout, pzout, prdrlout, feed, strcantext, e$ pcom_movea ppeckdetail_2$ #Canned Peck Drill Cycle pdrill_2$ # -------------------------------------------------------------------------- # POST TEXT # -------------------------------------------------------------------------- [CTRL_MILL|DEFAULT] [peckdetail drill] 1. "Peck drill detail" 3. "" 7. "Peck" 8. "Initial cut" 9. "" 10. "Runout distance" 11. "" The variables in brackets are not so necessary at first. What am I doing wrong and how could I make it working?
