Post backward compatibilty

Some of our MC users are using MC2020, some are using MC2021.  If we update the posts, will posts updated for 2021 work on 2020?

you will need to maintain copies of both

Alright.  That's what we've been doing.  Our reseller said he thought it was backwards compatible, but I wasn't willing to take the chance without getting a few more opinions.

Your reseller needs training.

The control and machine files are not readable by a previous version , but they are also like husks for the file that usually gets developed over time - the postprocessor file. So you can keep the 2020 .control and .MMD or LMD of 2020 but freely transfer the post back and forward between 2021 and 2020. 

I usually bump up the post version number by two or three ( as to what is at the moment the newest version) , so I just copy it into a new Mcam

when it comes along.
