Posting Subroutines

I was wondering if anyone knew how to make MasterCam take a subroutine and repeat it X number of times. Currently I will have MasterCam post a subroutine and I will manually manipulate it to repeat a given number of times at set locations. Is there anyway to have MasterCam do this for me? Or is this dependent upon my Post Processor? Example: Let's say I have a 5"x5" plate; I have a specific profile I want cut 10x on that plate. I use MasterCam to generate the subroutine for 1 piece, but now I want to repeat it 9 more times on that plate. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

OK maybe someone can explain the difference to me: A guy comes on the forum with no company name, no email address, no sim # and asks for a post. He get beaten to death. Same basic guy comes on and asks how to fix his post and we tell him about the posts he can download from the ftp for free. confused.gifconfused.gifconfused.gif

No offense Bob this is not being directed at you personally. I'm glad to see you used your name (I assume it's your real name biggrin.gif ). I just want someone to explain the difference.

I personally dont mind sharing posts. But I want to know that they are a legitimate customer in good standing with their dealer.

Mike, you must like abuse or something because you continually stir this pot?. The man is obviously posting code with SOMETHING, so if he is a crack user he's at least a good enough cracker to have gotten a post or 2. He didn't say 'anybody got a post for a Fanuc 18iM?' which is just a dumbass question; he asked a thorough, specific question that is indicative of someone who is probably self-taught in Mastercam or just took some basic training that didn't cover toolpath translation. This, to me, is much different that 'I need a 5ax Haas post.'

Mike I like you and respect you but you do not see the difference because you are a dealer. I ask this would charge a customer for fixing something as simple as this. The other thing is he might be getting his spefic help but how many others got helped that do not post up that are known proven people that may have never thought to ask to even affraid to ask as to not look stupid.

In post issues where someone comes on here and say hey I got the Crappy Mastercam program I was running Smartcam,Gibbs, or any others and my boss got this crap or this new place I work has this crap and my freaking dealer says I have to pay for a post to do everythign exactly the way I want and I want that $500 to $3000 post for free then yes we do not like that. The others are giving him direction to stuff that is free not direction to stuff that is not free.

We all relaize that dealers have to make a living and that is the biggest reason we do not give away complete working fully functional posts.

One other thing look at the latest post ask and how was that handled. I didn't see a mass slamming I said somethign that I thought was apporatie and A dealer said somethign as in most cases the big difference is this person did not come back and call people harley xxxxs or morons or arse kisser or slaves to Mastercam and when people do that they fully deserve a good old roasting!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, OK. Stop the bickering. I have used numerous CAM packages and have recently, within the last 2 days, have taught myself with help from my CNC techs. how to use MasterCam. The company I happen to work for has a site license and we use only MasterCam to program all of our equipment, including 3,4,5 axis mills, lathes and wires. The way we currently generate programs (on our wires) is to use MasterCam to develop one subroutine and manual copy and paste that sub multiple times on a given size of flat stock. I figured out how to translate my tool path, but if I have, say 100 identical contours, this makes for a large program. Obviously, by using subroutines you take a large program and significantly reduce its size. I want to remove all manual code manipulation and just have MasterCam do all the work for me....if it is possible.

Bob,

i am not critisizing you but it may help if you let the other forum members know you are a legit user. putting up a user profile may help as we

have seen hacks trying to use this forum with illegal copies. This forum ROCKS. it's by far the best place to come to for help with Mastercam issues. it's just that no one likes a cheat and the members here DO NOT tolerate that kind of behavior. as far as the post issue goes,

MachinemasterG is right about the MPsubrep post.

it will post subs based on the quantity you want used. please contact your dealer for help.

Yes Bob welcome to the forum. This is not Really about you, so dont be offended. You did nothing wrong and I'm not picking on you. Just using your post as an example.

My question was not about how this was handled. I have no problem with anybodys reply, but rather how can I help people? Where do we draw the line? Not to pick on Bob, but from his initial email, we dont know who he is and yet we offer him MPMaster. Which (from what I understand) is a highly versitle post.

Chris: What your telling me is if a bootlegger asks his question the right way, he can get a free post. If he asks for a free post, he gets the boot confused.gifconfused.gif .

Ron: Some people need a good roasting. No arguement from me there cheers.gif . I have my own Fanuc posts that I make available to my customers. Im sure it's a lot like MPMaster. Highly configurable for a wide range of Fanuc compatible machines. If it's something simple and the customer can accurately describe what he wants to do, we can fix it over the phone. It makes them smarter and lets me get back to my real work. Selling Software.

So here's the question: Why should one newbie who asks the question wrong, NOT get MPMaster.

And one newbie who asks the question Right, get MPMaster. They may both be legit users. They may both be bootleggers.

I would like to see a respones to all newbies like: Sounds like you need the MPMaster post. What's your sim number or customer name?

Mike, unlike a lot of guys here, I personally don't give a damn about software piracy. I don't make software and I don't for a minute buy that 'Mill 3 would only cost $2000 if only there weren't so many pirates out there' nonsense. If you are trying to run a business and you can't afford to pay for software you aren't gonna be a real threat to my company that can buy $1.5m worth of machine tools on one PO. I know that's not the case with everybody's company but that's the view from my house. The thing that does xxxx me off are people who don't want to put any effort into fixing their problems and just want something that Matt or Ron or I have 100 hours of work in for free; we worked on it on our own time in most cases. If you write / sell software hacks are part of the 'cost of doing business'.

Chris: Software piracy effects EVERYBODY. You think it doesn't effect you because you work for a larger company. You didnt have to pay the price for your seat of Mastercam.

Ask the guys on this forum who did buy their copy if they think it's fair, that the guy down the block (their competition) is using Mastercam for free. They paid the price for a technical edge. When you buy your seat of Mastercam your looking for a competative edge over the other shops. Your purchase is contributing to the technical development that makes your companys products stand out from the competition.

I'm sure if the technology of your Research and Development department at Harmonic Drive, were stolen and then used by your competition, you'd feel different. After all "it's just data". Who cares if your company spent millions of dollars developing a revolutionary new drive system. Some one posts your new drive specs on the web, no one should worry about it. Right.

It's stealing. People will always steal. I dont have to like it and I definately dont want to help them do it. Believe it or not, I post these questions because I'm looking out for YOUR intrest as a customer.

I really don't want to hijack this thread and you aren't gonna change my mind, so I'll just say this:

The only reason people get so up-in-arms about pirating Pro-E or Mastercam or Autocad or whatever is that the stuff is $$. Is there anybody on this forum that can say they've never run a bootleg copy of some kind of software? I doubt it. Are you gonna tell me if your buddy had some tax software or whatever that he bought for $30 and offered it to you last month to use you said 'no thanks, pal, that's piracy'. I don't think so.

As far as the 'how would I feel if they did it to us?' thing; there is at least one company offshore making ripoffs of our product and that of our main competitor in which they are illegally using patented technology and selling it for dirt money. Its all part of the cost of doing business; somehow Bill Gates and others in the software business are managing to squeak by on the small scraps left over after the pirates get the majority of the money [Parametric Tech just built a nice complex near where I used to live that probably cost several million dollars just for site work] so spare me the 'piracy hurts us all' line

Chris lol. Mike also lol. Passion a side we are here to help and to be honest been on here long enough you just get a sense of what some people are all about. I have tried ot always be nice but if someone comes on here wanting to pick a fight and I have had a bad day more than glad to let it rip. I think I called nuthead and the other mutlti names trying to come in here to pick a fight(not referring to the 100 acher woods people here) with the he is stupid no I am no he is not he is not crap and it was all the same ip address. As far as MPMASTER goes anyone can get it and if some a$$hole is a pirate and gets it then they did I have soe mhacker right now trying to beat my Norton Pro Internet at home. I have reported this ot the SBA, My local police department, the FBI and you know what I got back Mike well be gald you have good firewall software alot of people dont and if were to investgate all things of this nature we would never get anything done. I have the idoiuts home address and everything and they still keep trying to hack my computer. These are the a$$holes I hate thay go out of their way to do things wrong. I think everyone shoudl pay for the software and alot of people who are users now were hack user but they got the software and built their business and then could afford to do it or did soemthing lie a TV show see they had it and get a call from someone making sure they did what ever it suck and we all feel your pain but big differene in askign for help on a post and asking for a free post in my book and so many others also.

Bob,

Just look at what you started! wink.gif

Some of the Wire posts do support Subs.

MPWFANUC, MPW-FA10, MPWSDMK30 to name a few.

What Wire machine do you have ?

Here is sample output from (Sodick) MPWSDMK30.PST
