Mastercam cannot run the selected tool manager function

...because of a communications error. 

I grabbed a tap from a library and when I try to edit it I get this message. Other tools in the same library can be edited. Short of re-creating the tool how can I fix this?

I have seen that a few times and have sent the tool database to QC and had them see what they could do. It is it only one tool i would recreate it, but if the whole Tool Database starts giving me fits then I would revert back to and old copy and go from there.

this is a known issue that a solution for is shown in our knowledge base here https://my.mastercam.com/knowledgebase/tool-manager-communication-error/

cnc software may not have great forums at this time but one thing they do a spectacular job with in my experience is their knowledge base, anytime an issue occurs i always search there and a vast majority of error messages produced my mastercam can be found in the knowledge base articles and the search function works really well also.

if you have any trouble accessing that knowledge base article just let me know and ill copy the info over but as long as you have a mastercam.com account you can view that article.

Thanks Josh. I'll create an account when I get a moment. I created a new tool and got through the part.

Okay I never see this issue anymore because I give the whole Mastercam folder in Program files full rights and it prevents this premission issue from happening to begin with.

Here is what I do for all versions of Mastercam. It is an older attachment, but still what I do.
