Yes, may times. I would say you get a nice finish, nothing a polishing stone can't fix if you want a better finish. It also depends on the tapper you require. I have finished them going in a circular patter(contour ramp) and vertically(surface radial) tool path.

another way to go about it would be simple 2-d cutting. both pocket and contour have a toggle swithch for adding taper to the walls automaticly.the fact of using a flat end mill to get a good finish just means take .0005 or so step downs.and wahlah nice finish.
