Toolroom Mills

Does anyone have a good recomendation for a low price Toolrom Mill with typical CNC and DNC features for light duty steel and alum job shop production work? The Haas has a 12x30x16 CNC Bed Mill for 20K and with toolchanger 5K more. Has anyone experienced this one?

Hi,

Phil we have two Haas toolroom mills they are a very nice machine, don't excpect to do heavy roughing on them and make sure you get enough RPMs for your type of work ours are only 4000, not real good for small aluminum work but we don't see much of that.

Check out the Milltronics, fadal, or fryers. I think some of the milltronics even have linear bearings instead of box ways. Most of the others are bridgeport (knock offs) knee mills with a controller and ball screws slapped on.

I like the Haas toolroom setup........ I don't use one. I run a 2003 VF-4 daily. I am very impressed with the consistancy of the Haas lately. surfacing, contour boring within tenths. A couple of glitches here and there I hope their working out. For the most part Haas! +1

I was just talking to a service rep who said that in his experience HAAS customer service has been the best of any mfg. According to him, HAAS takes customer satisfaction seriously (& it shows).

Thanks for the feedback. I once worked on a Fryer Shop Mill with a huge 20x40x20 travel with a rachet type drawbar for 40K. Too much $$. The Haas seems priced right for 20K. I am making some recomdations to the boss.

We have a couple of chevaliers with 40x20x20 travel as well as a lathe from them. good machine for the money last mill i think was around 26k lathe like 34 k but been very dependable and user friendly. By no means a high speed machining center but great for intended use. Also have a local shop with about 10 milltronics parters and they run the xxxx out of them with good luck.
