either of those commands will work, i use format c: all the time.

That`s right ,because dos command interpreter command.com understands teh c: as c:

 

But in Unix you must write / and it has a lot of sense !

hey Biss, dont ya love working on other peeps computers biggrin.gifmad.gifbiggrin.gif windwhip is so fussy bout operating systems when trying to boot. run a magnet over the hard drive,hit it with a sledge,throw it at the wall and give it back saying sonthings wrong with it I tried everything confused.gif

Have you other nonformated partitions ,if you splitted your disk in two and write d: you will get the mentioned message

If you during setup selected support of the CD but driver was not installed succesfully you can get it too .

See messages aabout MScdex sorta .

Bullines ,if he has his disk splitted in two ,and do not forget aboutt Ramdisk that Microsoft creates for tools I bet cd letter is F:

Sorry about the incorrect DOS advice earlier...it's been a while and I must have been thinking Linux as Winnie pointed out. Anyway I'm glad you got it to work.

 

Bullines last post about zone alarm and firefox is right on the money. I run Windows ME at home w/ both of these progs and have no troubles at all.

thanks again everyone. i wrote down the links bullines suggested so i can give them to her. as soon as she gets her internet back online i'll probably go visit her(and her female college roomate who also utilizes the laptop tongue.gif ) and help get this stuff downloaded.
