Backplot function

[Simtech]

This is not actually a question but just something I picked up at the last dealer conference and I thought I would share it with you ....

Ever since I've been using Mastercam, about 6-7 yrs, I always wondered why after pressing the RUN command in backplot there was no way to get back into the STEP mode.

I was always pressing the ESC key.

Well, afters years of frustration, Andreas from Camaix showed me that by pressing the ENTER key when running a toolpath in backplot actually stops the backplot and allows you to restart with the Step function.

I would recommend CNC to try to be more consistent with "normal" and familiar user interface. I think, probably as most of you do, that they should have used the 'escape' key, even if Simtech would not had the chance to bring up that tip

It must be frustrating for the people that write the help file that no one bothers to read or check the the on-line help.

It was in the help file, but being a "veteran" user, I tend to go by experience more than the help files.

Here's another one ... did you know that when you are in the Misc Value screen, you can enter functions (like "s" for distance between points) in the field and get back out to the screen to pick entities on screen.

Since we are talking about Backplot and Help file, here is an other good tip in the MC Help file on Backplot:

You can step quickly through the backplot by holding down both mouse buttons at the same time while choosing Step.

"Alt + H" is my teacher.

I have always used "ctrl" and click step with the mouse. It works everytime.

Here's one

When I rough out a block ,I lie about my Cutter I tell MC that it is a 2deg. cutter(But I am using a straight cutter)

then it will offset more and more as it takes deeper cuts ,And not rub and drag along the sidewalls of my shape(s) making dust and looking like crap etc.

Salut Guy,

Quand tu travail en 3D tu peux activer le grid et le mettre visible pour voir la position de ton Cplane.
