3D scanning

I have a customer that I do a lot of 3D programming for. Most of this company's stuff is fairly simple, semi-organic forms and I can draw it pretty easily.

 

I am now looking at a project for them that might be better to have scanned than to draw from scratch. There is no one locally who has the equipment, so I am trying to find a contact, or at least find some information on what to look for. The piece is about the size of a pint glass, and shouldn't require too much resolution.

 

Any help that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Mark, I just had the same scenario. The owner came in with a zerox copy of the actual part. (you know the part on the copier, push the button). He says "can you program this ?"

 

I spent about an hour on the internet and made a few calls and decided to pass just because the job was a one shot deal and probably not worth the time.

 

I was supprised how few companies offered contract laser scanning. I expected to find alot more.
