getting mc to work with winxp sp2

If you are on a limited user, right click on the shortcut and Advanced button.

 

Run with diffrent..... button....use admin password.

sorry i should have been more precise. I have not updated to winxp sp2 yet becasue of all the problems people have been having with it. But now i see that most of you have updated and it works ok. I was just wondering what you all had to do to get mc to work in winxp sp2. any setting you had to tweek or turn off. patches you might have had to install and anything you had to do for the mc to see the key

In one instance, I installed XP sp2 from an OEM CD and then just did the normal Windows update. I then installed Mastercam 9.1 mr0304 from a CD and everything works fine. On a second instance, I updated to sp2 but it still works fine. Don't feel bad, computers always give me simalar problems.

I waited for a while to update to XPSP2 but when I did I had no problems. I searched here to see what problems were had by others, and if I remember right there was a problem with the computers time clock which caused some timed update codes to be invalid??? Don't quote me on it, until I can find the thread again!

Once/if you exaust all resources. IOW, OS is corrupt. I would grab an old/cheap hard drive install it then remove all cables going to the old drive. Boot from Windows CD and just start over. When everything is working good again just set the old one as slave and grab your data.

2 run Mastercam.

 

Not to be too much of a wiseguy.

 

If you're having problems of any kind, check the video card.

DId you already have MC installed then update or was this a freash install?

I have the same problem with 9.1 and SP2. This is the main reason I visited this site even though I got MasterCAM in October.

i took the plunge and updates to winxp sp2 and no problems at all. I was a fraid because of all the warnings that mc would not work after the update. but no problems at all.

There is a Drivers.zip file you can get from your dealer. It loads 2 different hasp drivers. Solves the problem with (some)XP SP2 systems.

I believe that many issues have been resolved by installing the latest HASP drivers.

 

I could be wrong.
