Member Ratings

I noticed that this new version of UBB contains a members rating feature. Essentially, it allows you to rate other forum members. If a member is a good source of help and information, you could give them a good rating. On the other hand, if a member isn't helpful or doesn't initiate good conversation, you could give them a low rating. Does anybody out there think that Webby should enable member ratings, or is it a waste of time?

Personally I think it's a waste of time ..stuff like that can get really personal and hurt the board.. you could have people that give good information that won't post anymore because someone wants to give them a low rating for whatever reason .. just my 2 cents ..

I agree. We are already having to deal with trivial issues now because of certain posts that have been displayed.

We should not "just" want to read posts from a "high" rated member. No matter how good you think you are, if you listen or in this case read what every member has posted or answered to, you will learn something. I work with my 8 yer old son almost every night using Mastercam. He can do basic programming with mill, so now we are moving on to lathe. I am amazed at things that I have picked up on from a "kid". The main things there are his awareness and aggressiveness toward machining. Not to mention the barray of questions of how's & why's.

My point is, you can learn from anybody. No matter what their rating is.

It would be a waste of time. Some of us are in and out of this forum quickly because we just don't have enough time. I use this forum for quick help and advice, its been working great. If I can help someone,...if time allows, great. If my post lingers for awhile,..fine. This forum is an excellent resource, I hope it continues just the way it is.

I thought I'd throw in my $.02.

I don't thing we should have a rating system. I think "Member " and "Junior Member" ate adequate.

Though, I would like to see Webby put pictures/images under our Display Name after so many postings. I know UBB is capable of doing it. I'd like to see what kind of wacky stuff people would put up. smile.gif

I agree with johns. I often learn from those that have been using the software for less time. They look at things a bit different than I do and that's a good thing.
