To all you instructors out there I need some input. Im graduate of Thaddeus Stevens State School of Technology and a member of the "Machine Tool Technology" advisory group. We are currently investigating o changing the name of our program to a more "catchy" name. I would like to know from all the instructors out there what would be some "catchy names" for our program?

All suggestions will be presented to the group!

Hey, I'm also a graduate of Stevens Tech. Class of '94. On my diploma it just says "Machine Technology". Do they have Mastercam there now?

Just another thought on this issue. Is it just me, or are machine tool technology programs closer to cadcam & manufacturing technologies than ever before? The reason I mention this is cuz it seems to me that at the college level, sometimes we don't respect the machine tool tech programs as much as industry does. Sometimes (more often than not), "professors" of manufacturing & cadcam programs thumb thier noses at the machining trades, uncognizant (SP) of what it is that we actually do.

Anyone else had the same experience????????

Mike I have also found that manufacturing ie CAD/Cam instructors DO thumb their noses at the machine trades in itself. I like to think of it as educated ignorance. Those instructors that we are talking about probably don't have any machining background at all. At Thaddeus Stevens they teach manual machining(and all its components)before they get into the CAD/CAM realm. Im glad that there are schools like that to develop machinists along with CAD/CAM programmers. If you teach this way you get the best of both worlds!

P.S. Matt ...Yes they have VER 7.2 with the upgrade coming...last I checked
