sharp edges required after suface finish parallel

can anyone knows how to make the edges sharp using suface finish parallel especially in a mold cavity but the parameter settings are abit confusing.while tool center boundary set to center,as what i have done,causes the edges to be rounded

What do you have set on the "Advanced Settings" tab on the finish parallel page?

Two things that should wor. One will definitely work.

 

First make sure your tolerance is set tight. I use .0002. Not too sure with V9 how or even where filtering is taking place but this needs to be turned off in V8.

 

Next I take my parting line (shutoff surface) and translate it up .005 inches (make a copy). This will insure the tool will not roll the edge. Some CNC machines are notorious for doing that. Doing it this way saves the corner.

What is your motion type between cuts or gaps?

Need more info, is it following surfs with the tool, should it be retracting to avoid contact?

+1 to Bill, always used that before. No concerns with check surfs then either, you just cut everything.

For a lot of stuff, you can go in gap settings and extend the cut off the surface a bit with the settings there.

in the advanced settings tab,i set to automatic,but the tool still roll over edges making it a bit rounded.gap settings i put to broken.but if i put gap settings by extending tangential line ,it could overcut.

what i am saying is for all parts in general whereby

you do not want rounded edges but only sharp edges in all cavities

i tried Billh's idea,shifting the parting surface up 0.1 mm,i got my sharp edges.thanks!
