CAMAIX 5ax simulation

Gentlemen,

anybody here using Camaix 5ax verify. if so how do you like it.i undestand it runs inside Mastercam which would be a plus for us.

honest opinions welcome.

I downloaded the 30 day trial the other day playing around with it. Looks cool

I thought there were more guys here using Camaix then 1 demo. What about 5 Ax at Microfacture ? I'm also interested in finding out how well it works. I lost a part last week because Verify didn't catch a bad retract move before a rotary position move. The operator wasn't quick enough getting to the e-stop either.

i tried to download it but it didn't have my machines on the site

I had bad luck. It wouldn't even install. Gave me some error. I'm running 2000pro SP4 and mcam 9.1 SP2 MR0304. I'll try it again when I have more time. Does anyone know of a help or FAQ for install procedures? Can Mcam be running during the install?

I use it everyday. It works very well. I have the trunnion and the spindle represented in verify. However it does not support crash detection yet. You must verify everything visually. It saved my xxxx more than once!

I just loaded the 30 day trial and it does do crash detection. The tool, part model, machine turn red if they are interfered with. Maybe it has been updated recently?

 

Looks good, but we have vericut on order so it would probably be redundant for us.

5ax’s version is an older one. I was waiting for the version 10 Mastercam to be released to limit the upgrade cost. The newer version has crash detection. I think their simulator requires their post. Editing the simulator for various machines is a bit cryptic. It should have a wizard but it’s not super hard to do.

 

IMO: if just have a one or two 5 axis machines Camaix is a good system. It’s a very solid turn key system with almost no training required and easy on the budget. If you are in an ever changing 5 axis house with a lot of different machines and the prospect of getting more, Vericut is the way to go.
