Hi,

My boss is considering purchasing one of the following mills.

Kuraki KBM-11X

NomuraHBP-110

Toshiba BTD-110.R16.

We are a jobbing shop and will be machining many different parts. We will be programing it with Mastercam v9.1. Any feed back in regards to any of the mentioned machines would be much appreciated.

Chad,

We have a Toshiba BTD-110.R16 machine here. The machine works good except for the "B" axis as there is no scale in the middle of the rotary table. If you are considering Toshiba, Go with some BP-....R.. machines just for the reason mentionned above.

Can't help you with the rest, I do not know these machines.

Hope that helps,

Kuraki all the way Chad.

I'm assuming you are talking about used machines?

Make sure they are gear driven...

Quality of Kuraki from '80 and early '90 is as good as Mori lathes from those years.

If they were taken care of you should be in good shape.

Very solid machines.

Hope it helps

I seriously doubt if the quality of those machines went down recently.

All they make now from what I know is boring machines. They used to make excellent verticals also (we have couple of them here).

Bottom line is their mills were a lot better then early moris and I know of a quality shop still using several kuraki boring machines holding VERY tight tolerances all day long.

Kind regards, Mark
