mpgen5x & vectors

MIL-TFP-41

I am hoping to work on a modification for the mpgen5x post to get it to post out vectors to control the tool axis. This is for a Siemens 840DI control. I need the vector output in order for 3d comp to be used (the siemens command is TRAORI). The vectors are output as A3, B3, C3.

guess I am wondering if mpgen5x will support this kind of output.

Thanks!

Here is what they cover in the post Documation:

quote:

4- or 5-axis vector variables

􀂋 mill5

􀂋 vtoolx, vtooly and vtoolz

mill5 set to 1 or 2 defines a 5-axis toolpath. Vectors must be in the plane that is being resolved. This is

not a function of the post executable but relies on the set up being correct when the toolpath is

generated.

With either 5-axis positioning or 4-axis positioning, the post customization file uses vtoolx, vtooly and

vtoolz as the tool direction to resolve the angles.

This is a very basic description and the reader should refer to Volume 3, Numeric Variables for the

variable information and also to the MPFAN.PST.

Then there is this:

code:

Swarf5ax Nci parameters:

12177 Floor normal X vector

12178 Floor normal Y vector

12179 Floor normal Z vector

Curve5ax Nci parameters:

12251 Tool axis plane X vector

12252 Tool axis plane Y vector

12253 Tool axis plane Z vector

Drill5ax Nci parameters:

12054 Tool axis plane X vector

12055 Tool axis plane Y vector

12056 Tool axis plane Z vector

That is a few I found not real tiem to help but this is also from the post CD. I recommend you call your dealer and get it from them if you are going to tackle this post yourself.
