Fanuc 210i-MB Question

I have a northwood router with a 210i-MB control, my question is why when i use wear compensation and place the radius in to the wear screen do i get an alarm? am i using the wrong comp type or am i inputing the wrong info?

Not too familiar with routers but....

 

There are several different comp alarms for different reasons. Which comp alarm are you getting? What does the alarm message say?

If you use wear then the amount should be zero to start with then as the tool wears .001 to .005 smaller you can then adjust it that amount. Remember that your lead in and out have to always be greater than the wear amount if not Fanuc does some wired things.

What is the alarm? Will the program run without a value in the wear register? If you are using wear comp in MC then remeber that mc is still comping for the tool so a new tool's wear comp would be 0.

And if any of your contour moves are radius' and are smaller than the amount of comp you have in the offset, you're likely to get a comp error.

With nothing in the wear offset page the program runs fine, if i put anything in there it gives me an alarm with something to the effect of no cutter comp or something, i can't remember righ off hand, will be sure to write it down next time,

I am wondering how much are you putting in the offset? If it was anything thing greater than .005 I throw that tool out and got a better and correct one.

Need to also check your lead in and outs so that you are not getting arcs on the g41 or g42 lines might be doing this as well.

..... or the length of your lead in/lead out relative to your comp. Some controls will alarm if your lead in is .05 but total comp exceedes that (like in centerline programming with Rad in geometry offset plus wear comp).

Depending on how MC is setup, You should put the cutter radius in the Geometry colum if you are programming comp in control in MC. So if it's a Ø.500 e.m. then put .250 in the geo offset then use the wear colum for fine adjustment. We have alot of old smartcam programs we still run here and at first I was putting the cutter rad in the wrong place (wear) and getting an alarm. HTH !
