Ladies and Gentlemen I posted a file called TEST CAVITY to the ftp i need some help with it.

The rough was no problem but i need a finish path other than the parallel one.

The finish tool i have is a 1.5 dia. insert Ball endmill and i just cann't get the tool to do a radial or scallop tool path form the top to the bottom ( that is the way i would like to machine the cavity )

please help thanks

John

Hi

Because there is . 377 radii in one area of the cavity.---------------

Try a 3/4 four flt finish ball, pocket spiral inside to outside .005 x,y steps with a half dozen finish passes at .002 ,and post.

Project onto your exisitng surfs ,this will give you a useable result.

No draft ?

I know that 4.750 is a little long for a 3/4 ball, so use the four flt because it is a little more rigid.

Cadmonster,

Please tell me this is what you want, using a 1.5 ball.

Please look at this Picture link here .

If this what you want i can put this file with this path back on my FTP.

this is scallop using the 1.5 ball at this time with a .05 step over,Started from the top down.

Hi

Good Morning

Jay's way is answering your question .

"( that is the way I would like to machine the cavity )"

I'm only telling you what I do for this kind of cavity. On the .377 rad question I looked at the part ,and visually noticed that some radii were to small for a 1.500 dia. ball mill and proceeded to find out what size they were. Here is what I did.

put cplane in 3-d,create,curve,one edge,---create ,point along entity =3= ------------

create, arc,3 points, points pick the points. analyze only arcs.-------------------------

Use the same way to create the pocket geometry. But for simple flat pocket geometry I put Cplane: T
