importing from UGS Solid edge

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to import CAD from UGS Solid edge into Mastercam 10 mill level 3.

the option is there, .par, .psm but I never tried it.

If you have the option of outputting a parasolid you can get it into MC. You might even be able to do it if you can output a step file, I've never used one so I do not know how good it would b e to do it that way.

Like Yogesh said you do have the option in V9 and in VX to bring in a Solid Edge file.

Just go to File/Open and choose "SolidEdge Files" from the "Files of type:" dropdown.

Since SolidEdge is a Parasolid-based solids modeler like Mastercam is, you should not have any problems getting the solids into Mastercam.

Do it on all my solid parts. It seems easier(for me) to draw parts in Solid Edge then open them in mastercam. The problem is when you need to modify your model after you have tool path on it.

wow just realised Im importing one now. v9 - goto files,converters,parasolid,read file then select "solid edge" under files of type

 

in verX - goto file,open then select "solid edge" under files of type

And here is a weakness that I hope, in time at least, can somehow be addressed. Associativity maintained back to the original parameterized model.

just wondering, does verX offer the ease of drawing solids like solid edge & solid works?
