trying to cut a spiral in X (bug??)

I uploaded a file to the FTP, spiralcontour.mc9 in the mc9 directory. It works fine in 9, and it comes in to X good, till I regenerate it. I then get the error "cutter compensation not successful".

 

So, it works in 9 but not in X

 

running X w/ MR1/SP2

It runs fine here is V9 and MCX. When you bring it in to MCX, is the op dirty? It's not here.

 

I should mention that I'm only running Demo at home, so it's not the latest version of either.

 

Take a good look at the parameters in each version and make sure they're the same. Check the tool too.

it comes in clean into X. Cut parameters are the same. It only gets messed up when I regenerate the path.

It regenerated fine for me. X MR1 Mill3 5-axis

I get the "cutter compensation not successful" here too. changed dia. of endmill to .25, regened

and strange things happen. Since others don't have

a problem with it, must be some setting.

Your trying to cut a .500 arc with a .500 cutter. Did you create your drawing wrong? Analyze your inside first arc and youll see what I mean.

I just changed the comp from left to right and it regenned ok.

 

Except it does pick up the fact that the center of the first arc of off center by .0025

infinite look ahead is turned off (see the file). When I analyze the inside arc (the smallest) it measures .55504.

 

Works fine in V9. Works fine in X till I regenerate.

If I turn cutter comp off it works, cept I want to use cutter comp.

 

When I change comp from left to right it cuts the outside fo the spiral, I need to cut the inside.

It works properly in MR2 which should be released very soon.

 

I spoke to the one of the programmers on this and he says they found a problem in MR1 and rewrote and instituted a new offset algorithm in MR2.

 

So please be patient. If you really need this, I can regenerate for you in MR2 and send it back to you.
