shading solids?

All right, I tried a search on this and found some stuff for older versions of mcam but not anything for X. What I want to to is select certain parts(surfaces) of a solid and shade them a different color than the rest of the part.

Can this be done and if yes how? The part is one solid with entities. If I move my cursor over the part, it highlights the whole part. It was sent this way by a customer, so I didn't create it.

I tried to help but i dont have soilds on my MR1 so i can't try much , what I was trying to do was color 1 FACE of a soild ??/ not sure if its possiable , I know you can select a face for something but not sure for colors

That is what I want to do, but haven't figured out how yet.

I could be wrong, but I think you would need to create surfaces from the solid first to do this.

A solid entity in Mastercam can only have one color.

 

If you NEED different colors you will have to "create surfaces from solid". Then you can blank or delete the solid and just work from surfaces(changing colors as you see fit)...

thats how I do it, but I move my solid to another level so I can still get it if I need too.
