What does this mean?

A customer of mine opened a very large 80 megs Soliworks file in mastercam V9 SP2 and this weird box pop up... what is it?

It has to do with virtual memory. Maybe somebody else can elaborate on this...

In simple terms it means the file requires more Ram that the computer has available. The little symbol in the bottom right corner means that

Mastercam is reading and writing to the hard disc

instead of Ram.

In practical terms it means performace will be very poor and you'll probably crash or lock up

frequently.

If it only happens once in a while you may be able

to tweak the memory allotments . If its happening all the time, the best solution is to strip everything possible out of the file so it contains

the bare minimum neccessary to toolpath it.

Minor clarification...

but what he meant to say is "the file requires more RAM than you've set in your Allocations page in Screen/Configuration". He's on the mark about performance being poor in this case, but if you increase that Allocation item, to hold the whole part, thing's work better
