Bring back the V9 Arc filter, PLEASE!

Is there a way to run an Arc filter on a toolpath as in V9 or previous? I have a toolpath that is 206 Mb in size and the movements are in .0001 increments......Way too much info for the machine control to handle. When I run the Arc filter in X, it crashes durng the filtering operation, turn the filter off and I can atleast get a toolpath. Any suggestions? Please!

Save it as an NCI, run the NCI file through the V9 filter and post it

If you have 2 gigs of memory, try increasing the allotment for resources to around 70% for Mastercam.

 

I'm pretty sure XP wil run on 512 meg just fine.

so 70% ought to leave some left over.

gcode.....when I try to open the nci in V9 i get a degug error.......string_to bnci(): unknown gcode1 Temporary file created. now what? Thanx

In V9 from the Main Menu should

NC Utilities

Filter

Settings ( adjust to your requirements)

the click

Do it

a File window will open and you can navigate to your NCI file.

 

If you're doing that and getting the error

I don't know what else to do.

gcode.....that's what i'm doing....in X i hit the G1 icon, tick the NCI box, open V9 and as you said.......that's when i get the error

are you trying to open the NCI file in V9 with File Get??

You are supposed to run the V9 NC Utilities from an empty session of V9

i can post the nci in X....i open v9...nc utilities/filter/navigate to file/do it...that's when i get the error

I just noticed that X has a chook named

filterNCI. Give that a shot.

ok.....it works, but my only option is to save as an NCI...what do i do with it from there?

Save it as an NCI

then use V9 File Utilities to post it

(assuming you have V9 post for your machine)

It's possible there may be some items in the X nci that the V9 nci filter may not understand.

We used the X chook "filterNCI".

If there is a way to post an NCI file in X, I can't find it.

Hopefully an X filtered NCI file and a V9 post

will play nice together

ok....i think it's working....says a 90.7% reduction in file size.....still taking a long time to post, but at least it hasn't crashed yet

close...it's just Gcode, no callaouts for tools or machine prep codes....trying in with another post processor

filternci.dll was brought back for several reasons, several toolpaths do not have the filter built in like swept 3D and coons patch. Also for those times when it is time prohibitive to regen toolpaths so you can:

 

1. post out selected ops, saving the nci file

2. run the filternci.dll chook filter the nci file.

3. import the filtered nci file so it can posted right from X.

this isn't working.......when i try to import the filtered NCI, nothing happens, when i try to import the original unfiltered NCI, X crashes
