Splines to arc converter

Joey,

Edit-simplify will convert splines which look circular into arcs and splines which look like lines into lines.

If you've got randomly-shaped splines, you need to use Edit/Trim-Break/BreakManyPieces. Select the spline, click on the button to the left of the green check to tell it if you want lines or arcs, and enter a tolerance value in the field in the middle of the ribbon bar (next to the 'Tolerance' button)

Andy,

Simplify will make circles or lines. If you had a rectangle with filleted corners, Simplify will not create 4 lines and 4 arcs. It will fail. In my experience, they must be single entities.

I've never seen Break Many Pieces make an arc.

I meant a single arc, as in the example of using an arc (or hole) that is represented as a spline. Edit-Simplify will convert it to an arc while Break-Many Pieces will convert it into a bunch of tiny line or arc segments.

Bringing this back to the top...

I just noticed that in X MR2 that you cannot pre-select or select multiple splines to BREAK into many line and arc segments. I seem to remember that you use to be able to do this - if not in X and X MR1 at least in v9.

It can be really useful when needing to break TrueType lettering up into tangentail line and arc segments.

Anyone have an idea if I am doing something wrong, or is this something that was left out?
