best post for fadal vmc4020

help, i just got a request from my boss to have a part manufactured at a different facility and they have different machines could anyone tell me the best post for a fadal vmc4020 for me to use

in x, or in v9 that i can update thanks

Use the generic Fadal post set-up to whatever Fadal format that they run there. IT should work fine for general work.

IIRC, there is a Fadal Format 1 and Format 2 post on the V9 CD. As Hevy said, find out which format they use and that post should work fine.

thanks guys, one more thing i did not mention

and that is the machine will be in metric will

i just have to reconfigure my mcam to metric and post, or are there different posts for metric

B&H Pattern in Appleton Wis has 10 6030 & 4020 Fadals of various ages and they use MC to program. try e-mailing [email protected] ans asking about their post.

The generic MPFADAL post should work just fine for you unless it's a 5 axis machine. That's another story altogether...

 

That will require a customized post and I doubt if anyone will GIVE it away since everyone either bought theirs or wrote their own. If you are talking 5 axis you will either need to pay for it or write it yourself.

Thanks guys i tried the generic fadal post in mcx

i will know later if it works,i had to take a file in inch and convert it all to metric to go to china to be cut at our remote facility,i did not know it was that involved to post out a job converted to metric , i thought you just had to pick a metric post but no you have to configuure to metric change all youre tooling, speeds and feeds etc does any body know any better ways to do this

Or they could just type SETIN at the command line and run your original programs.

What do you mean thad, if you just right SETIN into the program the machine would configure itself to inch and then use inch cutters ? if so could you show me an example thanks
