dual core settings

I cant remember how to set programs to run on certain processors

ctrl + ALt + del, processes tab, right click on the process you want to change and click set affinity

Setting the affinity only really helps on true dual processor machines, not just dual core. What else are you trying to run with Mastercam?

Dual Core processors are actually 2 physical processors on the same chip. They are a "true dual processor".

You dont need to set the afinity in "true dual processors" as Core2 Duo or old MB with 2 processors.

 

Try this, as an example:

- make a toolpath that takes 10min to process.

- Open 2 Mastercam's and make the same toolpath that on both sessions.

It takes the same 10min to process 2 tasks.

If you only have one processor it takes 20min.

 

Seting afinity will NOT change this.

My computer is very slow if I am generating a path then open another seat of Mastercam. When I turn on affinity from 0 to 4, 5, 6 and 7 on the mastercam that is generating a path the computer speeds up. I wish that I knew more about affinity and how to us it better.
