How tight are your system tolerances set at?

Just curious as what other mc'er's have their system set at. Thanx for any feedback.

I remember changing everything in Version 9 on the memory allocation.

system tolerance is stock, but i change my surface tolerance to .0002, and curve tolerance to .0001

we work with airfoil surfaces with small leading and trailing edges. The surfaces are lofted from a series of planer curves. Since the surfaces are made from the curves I set curve tolerance tighter than the surface tolerance, .00005 for curves and .0001 for surfaces. This seems to work good for our type of work.

 

I often wondered what happens if the surfaces are generated with a system with tight tolerances and some ware down the line the file is opened with a system that doesn't have the same tightened tolerances, does the surface retain the tolerance or default to the current system tolerance.

We do the same work and I've wondered the same thing. We are using default tolerances now. We get Catia files in all the time and we've had trouble with surfaces and solids and curves in these files.
