change surface used in tool path

Hi All,

 

I have a file that uses the same surface for about 100 or so tool paths and I need to change the surface to a new one, my question is is there a way to "assign" this new surface to the existing tool paths easily? (easily meaning all at once)

Not all at once but you can you the drag function to each one and that be better than having to reseclet the surface in each one.

can you pick your new geometry in the first op, then drag and drop the geometry in the operations manager from one toolpath to the next and just replace then regen all operations?

 

I cant think of a all at once way.

In X2, we have the easy button Kannon.

nah, that won't work in this situation the operations are curve 5ax with the surface(s) as tool axis and comp to, with different curves but thanks for the replys.

Can you use the feature recognition option and change it that way.

 

I think it'll update all the toolpaths that use the changes surface that way.

I did try that and it looks to me that when you select the re-chain Icon it pulls up the std curve 5ax dialogue box to re select the surface(s), so it seems to be one at a time,... its pretty slick that it found the new surface in the first place, bet it won't take to long to do them all at once...

When you finished and checked it off there wasn't a dialog box that came up and asked about changing them all?

hmmm, I'm gonna have to go back and click one click further, when I got to the re-selection part I stopped because I wasn't going to do them all now and did not want to stop 1/2 way thru..... I'll let you know in a minute...

Features such as this, if you were still working in V9, you'd still be clicking away.

 

If you deal with a lot of REV changes, family of parts throughout the year, this feature alone could save you enough money in time saved to justify the upgrade to X2.

I tell you what...from feature recognition such as this... makes me know no matter what difficulties I have catchin up to you guys will make it well worth it.
