reverse zig-zag cutting method

Is there a way to reverse the chain. on a zig-zag cutting method.

I would like to keep the tool down and climb mill.

I've tried reverse chain and change side.

This is the toolpath i get.

Is this a faceing toolpath? I have had this problem before, no controle in the faceing toolpaths.

 

I ended up saveing the toolpath geometry and useing this in a countoure toolpath. Just had to modify slightly.

If it is facing, then you could change the cutting angle by 180deg.

Yeah it's a facing toolpath.

I tried a chain point in front of the facing chain.It gives me a error.

I've tried changing 180 deg on the roughing angle.

That does'nt work, still does not climb.

I've tried the two things change side and reverse chain.no dice.

I really dont want to create a pocket toolpath.

I do a high volume of simple programs which uses this type of toolpath.Facing to cleanup.

 

I guess i could import the operation with geometry and edit the geometry,for the different sizes, but i was hoping for a quick reverse chain.

Can you send me the file? Changing it to 180 deg worked for me.

I just tried an existing facing toolpath and changing the Roughing Angle by 180' reversed the cut direction.

This is the direction i get when i change to 180deg.

I still can't get it to climb mill.

The ajax cutter i'm using needs a climb cut.

You are right, when there is only two passes, it always conventional mills. With more then two (or one pass) you can change it.

I did it. But I had to transform the toolpath by mirroring it across the middle of the rectangle. A little inconviniant, but it works.

Hmmm I mirrored the toolpath in y and x.

Rotated the geometry and change all the suggestions above.

If it's just me , i apologize.I'm not seeing how to reverse a chain in this toolpath.

I'll send it in to cnc as a enhancement request.

If any body uses a different method ,i'm all ears.

reversing the chain is useless for facing. What kunfuzed suggested is a good workaround. He suggests creating the facing toolpath and then mirroring it. Once it is mirrored, it changes the cut dir automatically. Make sure reverse toolpath is NOT checked!

Mirror across two points, the midpoints of the vertical legs. You have to pick by entity to get that option.

I believe you, but i can not get it to change my toolpath direction by mirroring the geometry.

 

I mirrored the geometry using two entries on the vertical legs.

Ohh... you need to transform the toolpath, not the geometry. It's under the toolpaths menu. Then you select the your facing path, and click the mirror tab. Then click by entity, and pick your points(there to the right of "by entity") I have to get going, maybe someone else could help explain. Good luck!

He means "Mirror the Toolpath" not the GEO use toolpath transform and select Mirror

Take and Pocket-toolpath, and choose there facing-type

Use transform mirror toolpath. Draw a line verticaly from midpoint top line to mid point bottom line, this will be your entity to mirror your toolpath on.

Just don't post the original facing op.

The problem with reverse toolpath is that I get lots of wierd rapid moves (and dangerous) between cuts.

I forgot about pocket facing, and it seems to work too. Changing cutting angle in pocket reverses the order.

Thanks Paul, that's exactly what i was looking for.

It locks out the toolpath,looks like to me, and posts the toolpath i was looking for.

Pocket facing would would be great for multiple depth cuts.
