I have a simular problem to

"Terry5357 need advanced multi axis help please"

I was tring to help him and little did I know I would be in the same boat today !!!!

I have a presure vessel end mold that I am tring to program for. It is 18.25" in dia. and 12" tall.

I am going to cut it out of renshape and vacuumform over the mold. I will be using my Quintax 5 axis to cut the mold.

I do have some long tool extentions to use but I dont think they would be long enough to cut in 3 axis from the top.

I want to cut with the rotary parralel to the z axis it rotates 365 degrees. and set the other rotary to hold the tool at a 45 degree angle to the table.

I created a surface model of the part with a surface revolution of 359.5 degrees.

I tried the 5 axis flowline and I get a zigzag 0 to 359.5 back down to 0 like I want but when I enter a tilt angle of 45 degrees it makes no diff. WTF

if the tool would aproch the part at 45 degrees up from horizontal it would be exactly what i want.

I will try to put the MC9 file in the MC9 folder on the FTP site

thanks guys

this mold is to be out of ren shape polyurethane tooling board.

I have to machine it as it is orintated in the MC9 file I put up on the FTP site.

I am using my Quintax 5 axis router. all I need to do is get the B axis to stay at 45 degrees from vertical and rotate my C axis (parallel to Z) from 0 to 360 degrees and back zig zag.
