lathe custom tool ?

i am getting the warning "error finding outer boundry of holder" I am not sure what i should be looking for.

the holder and the tool(insert) should each be a separate closed chain. i think.

Heavy I think that Keith is probably on the money with that analysis. The holder and insert must be separate closed chains and the insert should overlap the holder. I'm running V9.1MR0304 and I'll be happy to look at your tool file if you like; if you're on X then I'm SOL

Also remember that the sharp point of the angle needs to meet at the origin as well. I also make the colors the same as what the others tools are in lathe Red and I think color 101 or something like that. If you are not sure go to the lathe tool manager and save the tool to a level and use it to help you make your custom tool. We use this a lot on our set-up sheet so they guys know what tool they are using.

I have found that sometimes simplifying the sketch helps.

Try removing fillets one at a time.

 

Also, the colors should be:

Holder- 116

Insert up- 14

Insert down- 55
